You Charade fans know that in the opening, after the fall off the train, the titles come spinning in, taking over the screen, accompanied by this fabuloud music. The notion that a screen could open up like that into pure energy and beauty was as revelatory to me as Kubrick's 2001. It was a huge game changer for me, and I saw this in a theater when it came out. It didn't hurt that I was already a Mancini fan either. For me, at that moment, the possibilities were endless.

Ah I wish he would speak more on his choices. Though he has many good movies I love Pan's Labyrinth the most (after the Devils Backbone probably close second). I have always loved fantasy and still read several fantasy novels a year, which I know is not like the peak of literature but I very much enjoy them. The ending to me perfectly surmises how I feel after any fantasy series I finish. I want so desperately to will myself into believing it could be but I realize I never truly can and I am left with the harsh realities of the world, which in my case are rather mild compared to those in the film but that collision of emotions is very powerful I think.
