I am so happy that you mentioned the vibrato! His vibrato rivals Clapton. I actually have been talking about that for sometime with my friends. I actually seen him one time bend with his ring finger, he had his whole hand on the neck, bent the high e up towards the low e, and had the strength and shake of someone bending low to high. Beautiful man!
I could have sworn he already did a Randy Rhoads' habits video but apparently he didn't. I already know a couple of randy's tricks because of the video i'm talking about. Must've been another youtuber i guess. i'm so confused.

I'm a decently advanced guitar player but I watch this dude's videos often. He's a great teacher he talks and explains things in a broke down way to the point where he's expressing what you should be feeling while you play not the technical s*** being self-taught that's the only way I know how to be with a guitar. He does sprinkle in the Technics while he's going through it but now I see those how are are just Expressions to the name of the feeling or technique that would otherwise would be impossible to explain without someone showing and literally breaking it down with an explanation you can connect with keep it up dude
@MrHamthepig
3 жыл бұрын
ik you’re “advanced” and all but just something to think about, dime and all of these players were once too. they ended up changing the game with no formal teacher books whatever the case. it really is possible if you set your mind to it. use your ears and don’t just trust a video online out of convenience, actually put in the effort yourself if you want to be an actual awesome player rather than just some arbitrary tier level. you will make your own style instead of copying what’s already been done. it’s redundant. better you try to learn and internalize yourself than being spoon fed the rest of your musical journey. best of luck to you in future and get your fingers back on those strings🤘

You didnt mention one of his biggest traits. His legato. I remember an interview where he says something along the lines of. "for every one note i pick i hit about 10 notes with my fingers". He wasnt a right hand shredder when it came to solos. His left hand did most of work. He had fast, accurate fingers while his right hand just did minimal picking and worked the bar

I have the Dime Distortion pedal, and it has a scoop button for the mids. It does ok as long as it is being pushed by a EQ or a boost pedal, but alone it's just ok. I use it sometimes, especially when I want to attempt a Dime sound. It helps that I have a Dime D100 combo 100watt to play through. Nobody will ever sound like Dime, because his sound was in his fingers bro. We can just honor his sound and his memory. Love your channel man.

I learned to do those tap-on slide from a book I got in the ‘90s that focused solo on guitar “tricks,” long before I ever heard of Pantera. In fact a lot of these tricks are in that book. I used the tap-on slides in one solo & that is it. I haven’t used it again. I cannot find a phrasing with which it would “fit.”

I use fake echo technique is really slightly different. I use a pull off on the higher octave to sound the lower octave instead of using a hammer on for the lower octave. Using a pull off you only have already have the lower octave fretted and therefore not worry so much with the timing and precision needed for a hammer on.

There are so many things wrong here. At least do your homework to honor our brother right. Dime was very kind and left behind multiple lesson videos for us all. Let's not butcher his shit. You didn't see the harmonic squeals video? He didn't pick on those. That video is still available to watch... Everyone should know Darrell didn't scoop the mids. He explained it all. Everything you got wrong is readily available online to watch and get correctly. Hold on I gotta pour me a fucking double blacktooth.........Ok also.... I appreciate you for honoring him. Thank you for keeping memory of him. Darrell was family to me. I ate at his family house, he ate at mine. I was there when he decided to sell the dean from hell before the paint job. I was fucking there when he died. I just want people to learn the right way. Dime was amazing. Let's teach kids the right way. Too many youtube teachers are teaching Dime wrong. Once again, we appreciate this. However.....If you're gonna teach Dime. Getcha fucking pull brother and do it right. Do it for the Hard rock! Rock on 🤟

I made it to almost eight before having to shut it off because of how painful it is. He really needs to sit down and watch Dime play and watch his instructional videos to figure out what his habits are before making a video about them. Also in my opinion his guitar sound kind of sucks but opinions are like assholes, everyone has them and they all stink. With that being said the dude is not bad at guitar and if he likes his sound more power to him. R. I. P. brother Dime!

I gotta be honest, I was known by my guitarist friends as a metalhead who didn't really like any classical blues... in time, when we jammed together they would be surprised like "where did that come from? when did you learn blues?" in truth it was dimebag who taught me, if you played some of his solos on a strat and a backing track they wouldn't really sound much different than SRV

Please do a Marty Friedman video. I noticed that he likes to hit a note in the scale but then suddenly hits the closest note that isn't in the scale and he bends it slowly then adds vibrato and it sounds beatiful but that's just what i found. I'm very curious what will you find in his guitar playing. And ı think Marty Friedman is the best metal guitarist when it comes to soloing (there are people better than him in the songwriting side imo). He's just the most melodic player who can play fast stuff but make them sound very very good. Tornado Of Souls is my favorite guitar solo of all time.

He pushed the whammy bar all the way down, did a big flick with the left hand on the string to get the string really flapping, and then had his finger from the left hand again on the harmonic as the whammy came back up to activate it. You could see him do this, but also he used to have a column in Guitar World magazine, where he described this.

funny thing is that I've always acknowledged how incredible his fretting hand technique was, whether it was intentional or not. Observe how disciplined his wrist pivot and low thumb placement during many of his solos, in particularly legato sections. Not only is that kind of positioning pretty well known and commonly advocated, but due to Dime's fingers seeming to be slightly on the shorter side (like mine as well), it can really aid in maximizing our fingers range, increase our general coverage over the fretboard, as well as maintain a more relaxed and slightly curved position so the fingers can optimally execute fluid legato and huger vibrato! Seriously something I've always noticed in his playing, every time!
