For many years , I've claimed that rock and roll was really dead - Foo Fighters were the last rock stars. Sure there are smaller bands, but nobody could taker the mantle of real stars - dinosaur rock - Beatles, Stones, Zep, etc. Miley is something really different. She was a pop star, like all we have these days, but she's outgrown that. My imagination is that the future of rock will be her in front of a real band (something she forms sounds like Tedeschi Trucks with all the real instruments including a Hammond B3) doing music with this complexity and that the general public will like it much as I would.

The voice leading you’re flagging here perfectly crushes the harmonic minor feeling, just like the final chorus (the melody avoids nailing the characteristic F# harmonic minor b6 and maj 3 notes of the C# chord the rest of time) of Colors, which is in the same key and uses that major V to minor I thing..... but it’s more intense because she has that relative major bridge that then heightens the contrast when she uses the big augmented moment to drive it back home. Awesome video dude! Been trying to tell my music bros that Miley is a real one for some years now.
