I’ve had to pawn a thing or two over the years, at different shops. They all let you pay the interest to renew the loan when the time is up. I renewed a couple items more than I care to recall. Check your contact/receipt, call the place and ask them, all pawn shops operate by standard policies. It’s a lot easier to save up the amount of the interest, if you don’t have enough for the total loan plus interest.

What an incredible interview i knew he played guitar and wrote songs but not to this extent. I've been a performing guitarist and singer for 50 years and i feel the same way about the intamacy when a singer has only an acoustic guitar. Thank you Jeff and thanks for this great interview. Awesome

Absolutely outstanding interview. As a singer & bass/guitar player, my drummer & I used to giggle at some live bands we went to see or were playing on the same bill as, that would do all the cliche theatrics like jumping around on stage & be too unfocused on the musical content. We called it “All show, no go”. We used a philosophy that concentrated on “All go, less show” & we got good at some very challenging material. It was so fulfilling at many levels & what a bond we had.

I can relate to his guitar history, almost verbatim. Started playing piano at 6, was given a cheap guitar at 10 y o, bought an Alvarez 12 string in 74. I crawled inside that Alvarez and didn't come out for 50 years. The world has changed, and I now own a 41 Gibson acoustic, 74 Alvarez 12 string, 73 Martin acoustic, a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul, and a 93 Taylor semi hollow body electric. I had a stroke last December, which left me with some paralysis in my left arm and leg....70 now and in my soul I can feel every note, every chord, every lick, from every song I hear... Life is about change. BRING IT ! 😁👍

First of all Jeff is one of the best modern actors in American cinema, and gives James Dean and Brando a run for their money. Then you have found the imense satisficaction that comes from writing your own songs and letting your emotions pour out picking on a 6 string guitar. There's nothing else quite like it. You can play to 6 people or 6000 and get the same satisifaction. You are no doubt an artist of the finest caliber right up there with Doc Watson who was a genius at what he did with his music. At 63, to me, a guitar is a laxative, cause every time is sit down to play, I gotta go pee.

I have always played the guitar. It always clears the mind, on your best or worst day. I never wanted to risk losing that by becoming a musician, for an income, that could lead to failure, so I never tried. Now I am 60, and for the last decade, it has become one of my biggest regrets, that just keeps growing louder and louder every year. I love the guitar, but I feel like a coward.

This comment hits hard. I'm sure you're not alone in the struggle. You didn't ask for my advice, but I do hope you will be kind to yourself about the decisions you made and focus your energy on the beautiful music is still in your reach.

Keep playing! The guitar supports your singing and singing gets you close to your heart. The breathing technique involves using muscles, your ears, your mouth, throat and diaphragm. This deep breathing and intricate breath control is self nurturing and has a beautiful calming effect on your whole body. Music is a medicine. Along with that, lyrics feed the mind and heart. It’s a real mood lifter. Better than Prozac. So, whether or not you play for others you must play for yourself. It is an awesome gift you give to yourself. I sing and play for myself and I liken it to what maybe what it’s like to practice yoga. It is like a form of meditation. I by nature, am not a performer, but I love the way it emotionally and physically supports me. So, keep playing. 👍

There are countless actors who are musicians, many that are first and foremost musicians and actors second. Just a short list off the top of my head; Bruce Willis, Ricky Gervais, Kevin Costner, Samuel L Jackson, Johnny Depp, Steven Seagal, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. Jeff Bridges, Hugh Laurie, Steve Martin, Adam Sandler, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, Ryan Gosling, Zooey Deschanel, Richard Gere just to name a few.
