Nice reaction. Your guitar knowledge and skill give a unique perspective that I greatly enjoy. Sam Tompkins is on a North American tour right now and by all accounts is loving it. If you haven’t heard the story, when Sam was 15 years old he started busking to earn some money. One day he was singing on a corner in Brighton when a boy carrying a guitar stopped and began to listen. This was Ren Gill. Being impressed, he offered to lend Sam his guitar since he was done busking for the day. Sam revealed that he did not know how to play guitar so Ren stayed and played the guitar for him. A friendship was born that led to the performance you just watched. I sure hope they can find the time in their busy schedules to get together again. They are wonderful together. Thank you.

Hi Andy, The boys made this their own as Ren always does. Ren is a compendium of all genres of music through every generations.and blends then like a master chef. His parents took him to many medieval festivals in his country of Wales as a child, he said they were like a couple of hippies. This blending weaves familarity in his music that appeals to so many, just like you had with Man's World. He is also a fan of Nina Simone, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, John Frusciante, Buddy Guy, Clapton, Sex Pistols.. Wild world mix, eh?

I love the way these two are so comfortable with each other, and can improvise so effortlessly. I think Ren is partial to c#m6.

Good reaction. I enjoyed it. Ren got all 'spacey' at the end because in this session they went into 'Walking on the moon, the Police number.

Really enjoyed your reaction! By the way, in terms of the simplistic set up that they can just carry away... that's what Ren's green wheelbarrow is doing leaning against the wall. Busking transport a la Ren.

Sam Tompkins has some really beautiful solo work. For a real showcase of his falsetto, try Lose It All. Really beautiful song. You'll enjoy the band The Big Push, of which Ren was a member, too. Too many great songs to choose from, but I'm really partial to their "Wade In The Water/Trouble So Hard/Nina Simone" video.

Loved your reaction. I think Ren puts his own twist on things as well as paying homage to musicians he respects. Please listen to his band The Big Push version of Gentleman in New York. It's phenomenal both with it's singing and guitar playing.

James Brown has been my favorite entertainer since 1968 when I was 12 years old, and I am so tired of all these people ruining. It’s a man’s world by trying to hit so many notes. They act like this the only song he’s ever recorded. Don’t get me wrong. Your reaction to all of the singers is great I’m just saying that’s just my opinion being a big James Brown fan. Please reactive some actual James Brown performances, or studio tracks. Thanks.
