I'm not sure why KZitem has removed my chapter markers, hopefully they'll fix this issue soon. Sorry for the inconvenience, but they're still in the description ... and they worked up until yesterday. So who knows ... thank you all for the feedback, new videos coming soon!

better check back w/KZitem. It happened to UFD Tech too; he did a video on installing a different operating system on a Switch, and Nintendo blasted him with "violations" and copyright claims (not valid ones). But Nintendo puts a lot of ad money in YT's pocket; so YT crippled his ability to format his videos, and didn't tell him about it until he asked. He didn't get it back, because Nintendo didn't like the video; even though he didn't violate any community policies, and was just following the directions on a larger (millions of subscribers, so NOT harassed) tech channel.

To answer the politics question, she’s on the left and was very anti trump. Her joke asking if anything was going on in DC was because the impeachment was going on around this time. Also fun fact you might be interested to know, she first learned on a 12 string guitar as a kid because a guitar guitar teacher told her she wouldn’t be able to play one because her hands were too small and she was insistent on proving him wrong. 😂

I don't think she is leftist, just central... Although I don't know much about USA's politics, it's hard to see any candidate she endorsed as "left" which is deeply tied to the ideas of socialism and welfare.
@Mary-ks2kc
3 жыл бұрын
@@stillfangirlingtoday1468 Well the U.S. is unfortunately a pretty binary system and she has identified herself as a Democrat and endorsed Democrats/liberal policies so…she’s on the left in terms of the U.S.

@@Mary-ks2kc Thanks, I get it now. Basically USA politics are run by only two parties, then. Last year I thought being left would be voting for Hawkins, not Biden, a liberal cadidate, although obviously better than Trump.

She rather publicly supports LGBTQ+ both financially and personal appearances. She came out as a Democrat after years of being silent bc of the public reaction to the Dixie Chicks when they criticized President Bush over the Iraq invasion (see her Miss Americana film for her reaction to than). She donates to women's shelters, homeless shelters, flood and hurricane relief, supports laws protecting women from domestic abuse and stalkers. . . . If not for the whole Kimye phone call drama, she would have supported Hilary Clinton for president in 2015; as it is, she got tens of thousands of young people to register to vote for the 2018 midterm elections, in support of Democratic candidates. Marsha Blackburn won the race for Senate; in her film, Taylor says Blackburn vote against equal pay for women, voted down anti-stalking laws, &c. and called her "Trump in a wig." So, yeah, in America that passes for "left." Her anti-hate song YNTCD was held back for release in June (Pride Month). But most people don't know that the day it was released was Donald Trump's birthday. It was released as a lyric video, so people could see the word "Glad" in the song was actually "GLAAD" (umbrella group for LGBTQ rights).

Good thing that you brought that up about fanbase and success perceptions. Taylor actually gets quite a few haters and sexist comments about her music and lyricism only because her fanbase is mostly women and teenagers. That she would be recognized as a great lyricist if only her fans were... well, old boring men as you said. There is even interview of someone seriously saying that in television. Absolutely appalling.

Re: the swaying. Some people sway as a subconscious self regulatory behavior (it's super common in neurodivergent people but is a behavior seen across neurotypes). It doesn't necessarily mean that a person is uncomfortable, in fact it often means someone is *more* comfortable because they aren't forcibly stopping themselves from rocking or swaying. In Taylor's case, I've noticed the swaying in more intimate settings, usually when she doesn't have a band and the audience is people she can recognize as her fans (like you pointed out, the young femme types grinning ear to ear). I'd guess she's the type of person who is swaying all the time and stops when she feels under scrutiny. Note: I am not suggesting you said anything offensive, just maybe a little uninformed :) Note2.0: I'm not diagnosing TS as neurodivergent as that would be highly inappropriate since I don't know her and I'm not a doctor, I'm simply using this as an example of how certain behaviors (often exhibited by neurodivergent people but not always) don't always mean the same thing it would if you were the one doing it. Stay curious, folks ⭐

No matter how big or small a stage is, she always manages to keep it intimate somehow. More importantly, while performing, she really gets into the character. The confident, assertive and no BS persona or the petty person who is unapologetic about her vulnerability. In short, whatever the song is centered around. But once the song is over, she goes back to her dorky and genuine self that says "was it good? I hope you all liked it"

she will play electric sometimes-- some of the Red Tour songs were done electric; WANGBT on the 1989 tour was turned into a rock song; she does an amazing version of her song Wildest Dreams as part of a solo set at the Grammy Museum on a Jaguar. She has also played piano/keyboards, banjo, ganjo, ukulele, and (once, I think) dulcimer at different concerts. Someone asked her once if she knows brass or woodwinds or other instruments; she said she pretty much has always played to accompany her songs, so she wasn't interested in learning anything where she couldn't sing. fwiw, she makes small changes to the arrangements all the time, making each live performance unique. It is never exactly the same as another show.

re: success and controversy and politics. She's been the Nashville Songwriters' Association songwriter of the year 6 (?) times, since 2007; listed in the NYT music review, Rolling Stone, and Billboard as one of the best songwriters. . . . It is mostly the anti-country or "pop isn't real music" and misogynistic folks in some niche publications that put her down; but they'll never admit they were wrong. . . .and the gossip press just puts all that on repeat for clicks. Some of it is jealousy; her parents are millionaires, so they'll say she bought her success. Or, they say the lyrics are too mature for a teenager to write; or that she cannot sing (she was winning karaoke contests in elementary school, sang the National Anthem for the 76'ers at 11yo, sang at a US Open tennis match, and had an artist-in-development contract w/RCA in Nashville by the time she was 14). Or, her accent is "fake." Of _course_ she can't sing or write. . .or dress herself, lol. And the white supremacist groups latched onto her because she was such a super success so young, very polite, Christian and never swore in public. Until she got politically vocal, she was their symbol of white superiority. (I don't think she ever heard of them). So her coming out publicly to support everything they hate is another part of the cancel-culture backlash. And she gets it from some black artists or radio hosts who took Kanye West's side in the "Award Shows are All Racist" narrative (since 2009). As she has said, she doesn't like the drama, it likes her.

Taylor is extremely gifted with words and songwriting and I have admired her musicality for a long time. I'm sure she was underestimated a lot in her career behind the scenes so I get her point about there being a double standard. However, for me regarding her love life, it's not even the issue that she has dated a lot of people...the problem I have is that she likes to play the victim angle with those relationships. It's ok to write about your relationships, all musicians do, but I do think she sometimes weaponises those experiences and then cries wolf. Taylor is extremely savvy and smart, it a big part of why she's successful. Anyway thanks for this Andy, I enjoy your guitar analysis. I hope you'll one day check out 'Hanson'...they are incredibly talented also :)

"Leo in Saint Tropez" is a reference to Leonardo DiCaprio who has a reputation of dating young girls in 20s yet people only recognize him for his successful career, meanwhile the same people wouldn't look past Taylor's normal relationships to appreciate her music. And Taylor definitely is an anti-Trump, as in she literally went for him during her Lover era, set up a petition with half a million signatures and calling out the White House by name at her Billboard speech. She also released a song "Only The Young" for her Miss Americana documentary and allowed the use of the song for pro-Biden campaign.

Being a man has it's pros, but she would not be in her position today with all her young female fans supporting her work if she was a man singing about love, relationships, and breakups.
