What a crazy game it was. At some point Gukesh was 70 minutes down playing against strong prep. He didn’t make a single mistake and pounced on the first mistake of his opponent. Mark of a champion.

Both of them played with more than 90 accuracy.. Just crazy. At some point max was up more than an hour on the clock but in the end he was below 20 seconds..
@atulbesra822
8 ай бұрын
Max accuracy was a result of prior preparation that helped him reel off memorized moves. Gukesh analysed and came up with accurate responses which is the hallmark of a monster analyser. When the preparation of Max ran out, he was no match for Gukesh on making accurate calculation. The last blunder that finally lost him the match was one that even I (may be a below 100 elo chess player) would not play. A very satisfying win for Gukesh. For Max, it was sn object lesson that you cannot defeat someone as strong as Gukesh by just memorizing lines. You need to have strong performance after you exhaust your memorised moves and are on your own.

@@atulbesra822I did not see the game, but was it really that massive a blunder that you are comparing it with 100 elo chess?
@gasaidjohn3499

@@atulbesra822Max is a 2625 rated grandmaster known for his creative play and attacking style and you're using one game to say he's unable to beat Gukesh outside of prep. For example, Fabi lost to Ding in the 2020 Candidates where he gained a sizable time advantage due to prep but does that make him unable to beat Ding in future games?
@atulbesra822
8 ай бұрын
@@omingole7304, yes it was. Till then the match was drawn. With this blunder the match became totally in favour of Gukesh. Since very few pieces were on board, so it was easy to follow what was going on. A drawn match was lost by Max with this blunder move.
@atulbesra822
8 ай бұрын
@@gasaidjohn3499, Max reeled off 24 moves in no time whereas Gukesh took 80 minutes to come up with his moves. When the preparation of Max was exhausted, he too started to spend time on his moves. When the match ended, he had less time on the clock than Gukesh. In other words, all his preparation and all his time advantage could not help him once he was into unprepared territory, including the endgame where he blew up all his time advantage. Max is no doubt 2625, but then Gukesh is 2725. There is clearly difference in their playing strengrh, including coming up with right moves without prior preparation.

Guki is so so damn calm after those two consecutive losses. Initially he felt a little hyper. But since yesterday and today, this kid is on fire. VD, Pragg and Guki can surprise us during candidates i guess. And Alireza is trying to pull off a Rapport i guess. Last Candidates also he tried similar stuff, bringing chaos on the board. It is hard to work against folks like Nepo, Guki, Pragg. He lost to VD and Wenjun (who is offcourse underrated) but still Nepo and Pragg are danegrous opponents. The only thing i always fear about Guki is getting disheartened after losses. When i was a kid, during exams and all I felt aimilar stuff. It happens when you work so hard and fail. Little Bro, Hopefully you thrash Caruana and Hikaru in Candidates cause Caruana underestimates you quite a bit. Beat those two top SGMs. Go Guki!!
