Esecuzione magistrale.

Gulda brings out the structure and the internal drama of the music. His articulation is clear and appropriate.

Grande Gulda!!!!

Besides Mr. Ryan Whitney´s performance, this Gulda one is simply the best: pure, clean, paused... Bach is beauty, and not a frantic version of desperate performers. Gould ain´t that bad but, why SO fast?... the piece falls down while hearing him. Thank u Gulda, you and Whitney are the best.

@durro9xl - It is much harder to play these pieces at a slow tempo. That doesn't mean it sounds better (that's subjective) but to insult this great pianist with such a snobbish comment is pure ignorance. This rendition is outstanding in a different way than you prefer.

In the movie Schindler's List there's a scene where a Nazi officer plays this song on a piano. 2 others listen in and have a conversation about the composer of the piece, they think it's Mozart even though it was composed by Bach. Schindler's List is a fantastic movie that I highly recommend you see.

I have seen the movie about 20 times I didnt know the soldier was wrong. There must be some little joke or some significance to this, Steven put it in there for a reason. Was he trying to say something about German soldiers losing history by not knowing which German composer it was ?

@maslina10 In Bach's music, timing is very important. Why shouldn't an artist be eccentric? Gould's playing on the, "Golberg Variations" is some of the most sensitive playing I've ever heard. Some people equate perfect timing with coldness."The nicities are artificial". What does that mean? Nothing about Gould's playing sounds artificial to me. I like Goulda, but he's no Gould!

Bach is the consequence of many factors, and you should not confuse Bach with race or nationality, I can ask you where is the North American Bach? But then I would be just reinforcing your argument about nationalities... Just for fun I wanted to prove that your initial comment is a racist remark, sadly you not only prove it but also add more. I honestly don't want to humiliated you more than you already did to yourself. Gulda married Yuko Wakiyama, would you said that is decline in withe race?
