The Gull Lake Trail is an important link for walkers and bikers in the heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area. It allows users to get around in a fun and safe way that connects them to nature. The multi-use trail travels along the south, west, and north sides of Gull Lake through four communities - East Gull Lake, Fairview Township, Lake Shore, and Nisswa. Another section of the project was constructed this year beginning near Bar Harbor on the north side of CSAH 77, continuing along Lower Roy Lake Road and Hazelwood Drive, and eventually connecting to downtown Nisswa. Watch the video below to hear Nisswa Parks & Recreation Director Amber Moon Peterson and Nisswa City Administrator Jenny Max talk about the Gull Lake Trail project.
The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission (GMRPTC) designated the Gull Lake Trail as a “Regionally Significant” trail. The trail's connection to downtown Nisswa is significant because users will be able to access the Paul Bunyan State Trail, which extends approximately 120 miles from Brainerd to Bemidji.
