Nice picks and great video as usual, guys! I love Vampire Night and its cheesy dialogue and cutscenes, and Ninja Assault is nearly as good. Whenever I see or play those games, I'm taken back to my university days, since at that time I had a PS2 with two Guncons, Time Crisis 2, and the two lightgun games featured here. Excellent CAVE shooter pick, Coury. Back when I lived in Japan (the first time) between '07 and '11, I would preorder every single CAVE limited edition release on the 360, at great expense to my finances, forcing me on the "cup noodle diet" until payday more than a couple of times. As a big fan of Rez and of course, Rez HD, I'm happy to hear there's a physical release for it! Rez HD is one of my favorite XBLA games, and was disappointed it was download only--or so I thought. I had no idea about this release! Thanks, I'll have to look for it soon! :)

Despite how silly Ninja Assault is I feel like this would've made for a great 3rd person action game too if they decided to really run with it as a franchise. But man it and Vampire Night are so damn cheesy but it makes the cut scenes that much better for me

+g1nobleteam [Coury] No kidding...what I would have given for Treasure on 360 compilation. So much digital download stuff will eventually just be lost. +Retro Power Up With Rez, also be sure to check out all the vibration features. That might sound dirty, but, well, the PS2 version of the game shipped with an accessory called the "trance vibrator"... Basically, in order to enhance the sense of the beat of the game, the 360 version supports using up to three additional controllers (on top of the one you're playing on) to vibrate, so you could put them in your pocket, or put one at the small of your back, or something like that. The trance vibrator was a USB accessory whose sole purpose was to vibrate, just much more than a controller could. If this all sounds really weird, that's probably because the entire game is really weird :)

That's a good set of games there. Never played Akai Katana but saw Coury playing it on the stream recently. looked amazing. Seems pretty cheap in the UK too. may have to grab it. Lumines and E4 are well worth getting properly stuck into. I found the xbox D-pad wasn't brilliant for Lumines but I eventually learned how to deal with it. I'm sure the elite pad works a little better. I played both those games a ridiculous amount when they were released on Xbox 360. There's a bunch of cool hidden gems on that console's arcade. Stuff like Poker Smash and Commanders: Attack of the Genos come to mind. On PS2 the ultimate lost gem would be Flipnic. people need to learn about that game.

I remember Ninja Assault really well as an arcade. Made no sense to me, but I don't care. Never tried Vampire Night, but I'll have to get a CRT TV to fully try it, but I don't think I'll have the time and space for it. Rez HD is definitely rad and cool, and I played Akai Katana once before, and it was pretty cool. There's another shooter on the 360 called Otomedius Excellent, and it was kind of weird but cool. Not to mention the Raiden games on it too.

Many of Caves shooters can be found on the 360 and Akai Katana is one of their best examples. I picked up a sealed copy for SUPER cheap, like less than $20 cheap and I feel that the game is worth so much more than that. Now is the perfect time to start collecting good games for the 360 because they're still fairly cheap and the library's quality is comparable to the PS2 in terms of the sheer number of great titles to play. Long live the almighty Xbox 360! :)

Great episode, but IMO you should have mentioned that Cave's shooters on the 360 are mostly region-free, despite the 360 itself typically being region-locked. For this reason I don't really mind that most of their games weren't ever brought over to the US, they're mostly easy to import too.
