Gung-Ho Divers in West Palm Beach: Hammerhead shark: April 5th, 2024
My second shark dive: part 1. On this dive we saw 4 hammerheads, 2 tiger sharks, sandbar sharks and lemon sharks.
Hammerhead sharks have some of the most unique and fascinating eyes, not only are they positioned very wide at the end of their distinctive hammer shaped head, but they also have much more of an eyeball feel similar to ours compared to many other species.
🔴Remoras are usually found hitch hiking on sharks, as they have a mutuals symbiotic relationship.
The remora keeps the shark clean from parasites and dead skin while feeding on the food scraps.
This symbiotic relationship is a perfect example of how interconnected marine life is and how different species can rely on each other.
Despite their different size and appearance.
🔴 This is what a typical shark interaction looks like.
They sometimes swim over, if you don’t chase them, and then they lose interest and they swim away.
It was my first time seeing a hammerhead shark. 🦈
