"Why is she so sad...?" The song is about suicide. You don't always notice how much someone is hurting until you go back and realize the signs were there all along, but sometimes by then it's too late. "Everybody needs somebody. You're not the only one." Very sorry about your sister's passing. Keep spreading the love. I join many others in wishing you all the best.

I was about 10 or 11 when this video came out and honestly thought she was struck by lightning at the reception, even though they didn’t show lightning, and that’s why there was the mirror in the coffin that showed only one side of her face and body. Like it thought the other half was burned. Then I never really thought about it again. But yes, suicide makes sense now. Funny how kids think.

It's not just about not noticing how much some one else is hurting - it's about knowing that your time with someone is not infinite. Nothing lasts forever - relationships, lives, loves - they all have an end date that you cannot know. It's important to show someone how much you care while you can.

The closer he got to her door the louder the volume grew. Then his world began to spin uncontrollably as a loud gunshot echoed through the hallway. He ran toward her apartment, lowered his shoulder, and with reckless abandon crashed through the wooden door. He’d found Elizabeth on the couch, bleeding profusely, most of her head splattered on the wall behind her"

That song was an instant classic. Epic music videos were the key to do that back then. Some Wikipedia fun facts: In July 2018, it became the first video made before KZitem's founding to surpass one billion views, as well as the first music video from the 1990s to hit over a billion KZitem streams. It is one of the most expensive music videos ever. There were some good rock songs in the early 90s. Maybe if you get around to looking into 90s Aerosmith, you'll discover the legendary video trilogy ("Cryin'", "Crazy" and "Amazing") introducing the world to Alicia Silverstone and Steven Tyler's daughter Liv. I don't know what you would do, but I'd recommend doing the whole trilogy in one session.

Hi Jamel, Thanks for the great reaction videos you do. I appreciate the way you keep it real, and you have a great selection of artists you've covered so far. You mention the passing of your sister, as it relates to the November Rain video. I'm sorry that she is no longer with you. I've enjoyed many of your Rush reaction videos, and how you admire their music. It's great the way you show respect to those who have passed such as Neil Peart. If you didn't already know, Neil and the boys were rockin' along in the late '90's, having just released and toured for their Test For Echo album. In a 10 month period from 1997-1998, Neil lost his only child (19 years old) to a car crash. She was in her first year at university. Ten months after that his wife died from cancer and heartbreak over her daughter's death. Needless to say, the man was destroyed. To try and manage his grief, he went on a 2 year solo motorcycle trip of North America. In a book he wrote of this, Ghost Rider, he referred to the trip as his healing road. As you know, Neil is the lyricist for Rush, and the lyrics of their Vapor Trails album reflect Neil's personal tragedy and recovery. From 1998-2001 Geddy and Alex supported their brother, but thought Rush was finished. When you do future reactions to Rush songs, please consider some of the songs from this time frame such as Secret Touch, One Little Victory, Vapor Trails, and Ghost Rider.

The woman Axl was marrying was his real life girl friend of the time... Just a fact. "November Rain" is parts one and three of the trilogy. "Don't Cry" is part two and "Estranged" is part four... Now you gotta see them all. Just awesome songs from start to finish. This song was a pet project of the lead singer Axl Rose. He had this tune humming around in his head before Guns'n'Roses was formed and he basically tinkered with it for about 10 years before he could commit it to a record. And how beautiful it turned out to be... He had to have it perfect and perfect it was and still is.

Sad to hear about your sister. I lost my cousin. Different illness, but it seems to be pretty similar circumstances. When someone in their 20's or so dies, it's the most heartbreaking thing, because it's supposed to be the prime of your life, and you have 20 or so years of raising a family to look forward to. For all of it to get swept away from you is just too sad. But I think we who get to live should learn from these experiences and honor those who have died by making sure that we are truly alive.

As the video says, this one was based on that short story. But, there is a whole group of GNR videos for this narrative. The first one was for "Don't Cry". Then, "November Rain", and followed by "Estranged". (fun fact: the lyrics of "Estranged" end with the words, "without you".... which is the title of the book) Those completed the 'Illusion' trilogy, and then they kind of did an epilogue with "Since I Don't Have You" from their next album, The Spaghetti Incident.

Here's what this song says to me (putting aside the short story that's supposed to have inspired it). Any time you have a wedding, no matter how young you may be and no matter how much of your life you have (or think you have) ahead of you, you're having a funeral at the same time. Because the day WILL come when you have that funeral for the relationship, whether because one of you dies or just because the relationship ends. My wife and I started dating right around the time this song was released, and I remember listening to it at the time and thinking about what it meant for our future. We're still together, married almost thirty years, but we won't always be. Nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain.
