During a jam session at the band's house in the Sunset Strip, drummer Steven Adler and Slash were warming up and Slash began to play a "circus" melody while making faces at Adler. Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin asked Slash to play it again. Stradlin came up with some chords, Duff McKagan created a bassline and Adler planned a beat. In his autobiography, Slash said "within an hour my guitar exercise had become something else." Lead singer Axl Rose was listening to the musicians upstairs in his room and was inspired to write lyrics, which he completed by the following afternoon. He based it on his girlfriend Erin Everly (daughter of Don Everly and Venetia Stevenson), and declared that Lynyrd Skynyrd served as an inspiration "to make sure that we'd got that heartfelt feeling. On the next composing session in Burbank, the band added a bridge and a guitar solo.

Wonderful back story - thank you for sharing. NB: I've read, assimilated and re-typed this gen (2 comments) - not copy and paste 😸 The brand of water you are referring to is likely Levissima, which is an Italian mineral water brand known for its distinctive flavor and smooth drinkability. It is sourced from the springs in Italy's snow-covered Alps and is classified as an oligomineral water, meaning it contains dissolved minerals naturally occurring from its springs. The water brand Levissima was first put on the market in the 1930s. It originated from the pure water sources in the Northern Italian Alps, specifically from the valley of Cepina, and was named "Levissima" from the Latin adjective levis, meaning "light," due to its light and easy-to-digest properties. The song "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses was composed in the summer of 1986. Here are the key details: Summer 1986: The band was living in an unfurnished house in the Griffith Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, where they focused on writing and rehearsing songs for their debut album, "Appetite for Destruction." It was during this period that Slash came up with the iconic riff, and the band quickly developed the song around it. Initial Development: The song's foundation was laid down quickly, with Slash's riff and Axl Rose's poem, which he had written for his girlfriend Erin Everly, forming the core of the song.

Where do we go now? Where do we go? Where do we go? Where do we go now? Oh, where do we go now? Where do we go? (Sweet child) Where do we go now? Oh, where do we go now? Where do we go? Some songs you know what is as soon as you hear half a second of it, this is one of those, iconic guitar riff yers, i think its just iconic for how simple it is, and yet so impactful, once you heard this guitar riff, you just know it, i think its the music itself that made it iconic, and not a movie..Its like the riff from Smoke on the water, everyone who play guitar can learn it pretty fast, and that is one way to create a iconic riff, if it also sounds good.

I remember hearing the whole album when it came out in the summer of '87. A friend of mine got his mother to buy it for him. I hadn't heard anything like their style before. Don't get me wrong, it's just blues based rock n roll, but they had that something extra that blew me away at 12 years old.

It really WAS different. I can only describe it as chaotic glam rock. The elements of glam rock are there: The high voice, the hard hitting guitar solos, the tight pants, the whole intonation is Glam Rock. But it really is a chaotic form of it. It doesn't follow the normal Glam form, instead mixing things up and really pulling in the strains of rock that you hear more prominently in Black Sabbath or other similar groups. It punches in a way that glam didn't, yet still maintains a musical truth that compares to the way Iron Maiden would to Opera. The strength and purity is there, but mixed up a bit differently than normal. GNR was one of the most perfect transition groups to grace rock.

So, when they put this video out, they were running out of money. This videos success paved the way for the re-release of WTTJ video and then that video blew up.

The guitar part, which is so recognizable, was actually something Slash used to warm up before they started to play their actual music. Unbeknownst to Slash Axl liked the warm-up sound and turned it into a song. Slash was not a big fan of this and hated to play it until they played it live and he saw how out of their brains the audience went on the first few notes he played. It is legendary, pure brilliance, the whole album... Best guitar pron out there.

It's the age-old adage that even the simplest of things performed by a master can overwhelm the listeners. So many artists hate their own work because they feel it is sub-par and simplistic, not representative of their ability. A simple tune by the right person in the right moment can make for a masterpiece for the masses. That type of artist needs to realize that the reason there is art is that it is to be enjoyed by others. If you make a song that is incredibly complex and shows your skills but it never finds a heart to latch onto, is that success? If you make a simple tune that people find various incredible meanings and feelings within, is that failure? Slash has come to understand that over the years. Maybe it's not his favorite, but he knows that it is the favorite of a lot of people who find meaning in it. THAt is what it is to be an artist.
@timometsanoja9666

@@chrismaverick9828 and something that evokes emotion in people and speaks to their souls doesn't have to be some incredible masterpiece of skill and mastery. It often is quite simple. Not saying the iconic riff here is simple, but it is very distinctive. One such example of a simple yet something you feel in your soul is Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. That thing is barely playing and it is one of the best songs ever written. The emotional baggage it has is just mind blowing. Music speaks to us, it is a universal language and one that brings together people from all walks of life... Slash is a master of his instrument.

Our Male Model, decided to have some fun, when the Teacher was out, and broke into his Axl Rose imitation, nude except for the bandana, started to sway, dance, sing "Sweet Child of Mine" -nude. He did well with the the singing, and moves. We laughed! By the time our Teacher returned, we were back to model and student sketch behavior. 😆🤫
