There are, in Ouspensky's book In Search of the Miraculous, three kinds of "very exact" statements, recorded by Ouspensky, that Gurdjieff himself made.
1. Statements about our situation as ordinary men and women.
2. Try-to exercises to confirm these statements and to make them more profound, and
3. Exact statements made by Gurdjieff, in answer to questions, put together according to his - Ouspensky's - interpretation and understanding, as if they are speeches given by Gurdjieff, but they were not, and they do not express or exemplify Gurdjieff's actual teaching.
