While I do prefer the soundtracks that made it to the final product, i really love hearing what could have been, still super fun bouncy rythms! you can hear where some of the inspiration came from, especially with tracks like Crocovile swamp, i can hear ruminants of what came to be burried in this song.

its so awesome to finally have these tracks in great quality and downloadable! I've been looping some rips of these tracks someone else uploaded recently while working and the mood is just so good. i may be more nostalgic for the songs from the final soundtrack, but i cant deny there's some bangers here too (ball gadet my beloved)

Im really glad Eurocom made that final soundtrack change as those songs have been stuck in my head for the past decade. Plus i feel like these tracks dont have a consistent tone to them, like in the final soundtrack where you can tell where you can easily imagine where you are just by listening to the music, however I think these track are great when they are heard individually rather then all together in a collection. I think Guy Cockcroft still did a great job though but thats just my opinion.

It kinda is a shame that Guy Cockcroft was replaced at the last minute because I do really enjoy his work here. I think he was really good as a composer. And, dare I say, I feel like some of his tracks (especially the Gnasty Gnorc ones) are almost movie OST worthy.

It sounds like something I'd download off of the KZitem Audio library. Not really a bad thing, but it doesn't quite fit the vibe, I feel.

Man, I'm sad that Gnasty Gnorc's battle theme got scrapped. The game really could've used that little extra bit of variety for the boss tracks

32:32 Honestly, hearing this sample that was used in the Code Lyoko soundtrack at the same time (virtualization theme) would've been such a ride. My 2005 could basically be described by AHT and Code Lyoko alone.

Didn't listen to all of the pieces, but here is the impression I'm getting based on what I'm hearing: I believe Cockcroft was trying to imitate Stewart Copeland's works from the original trilogy by using mostly percussive instruments. However, there's obviously guitar, trumpet, harmonica, and other instruments present as well. From the ones I heard, Cloudy Domain is probably the closest to sound like an original trilogy piece from instrument choice alone. My problem with these aren't the way they are written, or how they sound; I feel like most of them don't fit the game (The closest is St. Byrd 2. Yeah, I skipped around a bit). This is nothing against Cockcroft, as he is a competent composer, and I admit the Dragon Village piece is starting to grow on me from watching the demo playthrough. But as I was watching part one, I had a hard time imagining the works being in the final game (That might be nostalgia talking really). But I can't believe the music in the final game got done in six weeks. That's crazy!

You're right about Guy trying to imitate Stewart's style, though he admits he went a bit all over the place in terms of genre! And yeah, I also have a hard time imagining Guy's music being in the final game... then again, I'd have a hard time imagining ANY other music in the final game as well. The final soundtrack is so intertwined with the game in my head.

The current music is far too generic in my taste, not sounding like Spyro at all to me. These fit the vibe of Spyro better, and are absolute bangers!!

Sounds like they made the right decision in the end to get Steve Duckworth to do the music, but this is still an interesting find. Duckworth's is one of my favorite video game soundtracks. Edit: It wasn't him, I guess.

Duckworth was not part of this game's final soundtrack's production, that credit goes to Paul Lawler, Keith Leary, David Marsden and Craig Sharmat.

It tends to be miscredited a lot, yeah. Steve was part of Eurocom's sound team and did produce soundtracks for some games like Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

Why does this Soundtrack feel like it could've fit a hypothetical Japanese version?

I can see why these were cut. Most of these would be pretty decent for a golf game, but for Spyro it's just too light and basic.

From what I just heard these songs weren't made by the songwriters"Steve duckworth and Paul lawler". I hope it was only music that they took as a reference while making the game, And not as possible ending songs
