Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat, Heavy D, etc.

This song was released in February '89. I sometimes have a hard time placing these songs between the late 80s /early 90s because those were my high school years and the only thing I remember right away is that I remember listening to them when I was in high school. Glad you enjoyed the song. Guy is one the groups that I enjoyed listening to back then enough to actually own the cassette. Along with other songs people have mentioned you should give a listen to: Force MDs: 'Love Is a House' Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam: 'I Wonder If I Take You Home Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force: 'All Cried Out' Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam: 'Can You Feel the Beat' Klymaxx: 'Meeting in the Ladies' Room' Klymaxx: 'The Men All Pause' Klymaxx: 'I Miss You' Klymaxx: 'Divas Need Love Too' Klymaxx: 'I'd Still Say Yes' Mary Jane Girls: 'In My House' Mary Jane Girls: 'All Night Long' Mary Jane Girls: 'Boys' And of course more Teena Marie.

This is 88! Guy created the New Jack Swing sound. I hope you realize that Teddy Riley is a member of this group. He's the gentleman in the yellow on the album cover. He's the one that defined the R&B sound of the late 80s early 90s. He produced many of the hits during that time period from Micheal Jackson to Bobby Brown and many more. Guy literally changed the sound of R&B...look into their history and you will see the influence they had on the entire industry of R&B at that time.

They're responsible for starting New Jack Swing sound. They're all grew up in Harlem NY they have good songs. Aaron Hall also wrote for other artists. Teddy Riley went to produce so many artists from rappers singers too many to name. He produced Michael Jackson "Remember the Time". Teddy produced and sing the song "No diggity" with Blackstreet. Oh yeah. "Teddy's Jam" is another dance track from Guy. Basically it's just instrumentals of Teddy Riley(BlackStreet "No diggity " first singer)flexing the early sounds of his New Jack Swing sound. Aaron Hall puts in a few adlibs to make it a little more funky. It's a type of song you'd play with a dance crew just showing off what they got. Good head bop too. "Groove me" is another favorite dance track. You'll definitely get the signature sound of New Jack Swing. You should listen to the whole soundtrack for New Jack City. There are some really good bops on it.
