Thanks Guy. Really enjoying these vids. In the 80's as a young fella I learned the bass playing along to Icehouse. I still play the same headless Cort 4-string (couldn't afford a Steinberger). Loved Icehouse then, still love it now. Thanks so much for what you have given me in bass playing style and finding real enjoyment from music (specifically bass). Would love it if you could bring us more 'licks' from Icehouse. Love you, love your work. Stay safe.

One of the great things about watching these has been discovering new music I was unfamiliar with. The Toy Matinee album is fabulous and on a regular repeat here. I also like the honesty, it makes me feel much better about my amateur efforts to see a great bass player making the odd mistake and laughing it off. Mainly though you're just a really likeable bloke, with a sense of humour, some great stories and the ability to tell them well. Keep it up, I look forward to each new one.

There once was a bass player named Pratt (Not a surname I’d ever choose, that) On KZitem he whips Out these video clips... Essential viewing in my habitat His first name is Guy, by the way Oh man, you should watch this Guy play! He slaps and he strums Flaying fingers and thumbs And his skill level blows me away! But he strums more than slaps, it needs stating Though his slapping skill’s far from abating “I don’t slap much,” he blurts “When I slap, my thumb hurts And the pain is quite ex-cruciating!” But there’s far more to Guy’s bag of tricks Than just bass playing in his “Lockdown Licks” While there sure ain't no offal There’s this thing he calls “waffle” (Not the dessert to which Maple Syrup sticks) His “waffle” is the tales he relays ‘bout his past and the songs that he plays The yarns are such fun It’s kind of sad when they're done Could listen to Guy waffle for days But don’t ask an already asked question I say this for your own protection Cos Guy won't, “Tut tut” He’ll kick you right up the butt Never fear, 'twill be done with affection!

Dear Guy. I’m so sorry about your computer. I’m apologising because I feel responsible. I should never have sent you a post, as your computer has since become infected with what my friends call the Mooglie Factor. Something bad always happens when I’m involved. Syd Barrett died the day I sat on his park bench in the Cambridge Botanical Gardens. Glen Campbell died as something I’d sent in the post about him was on its way to Jimmy Webb. Jimmy Webb himself died when something else I’d sent him was in transit. Fortunately it was a different Jimmy. (Not fortunate for the other Jimmy, of course. And I do feel responsible for that poor chap’s death too.) So, once again Guy, my sincere apologies. And may your computer RIP.

Guy, I can confirm Albert’s words are true. I’ve known and have been exposed to him for many years now - therefore I have managed to build up sufficient immunity to be able to live to tell the story. However the above-mentioned others weren’t so fortunate. He’s undoubtedly left an ever growing trail of destruction across the globe. Personally, I think world leaders should worry less about COVID-19. As the sad case of your computer attests, their focus needs to urgently shift to the new and dangerous global pandemic known as ALMAG-20.

Guy, not sure if you read these, but I have a crazy story. I traded for a “Frankenstein” Bass last week. The neck is terrific, and says Pavel Maslowiec on the headstock. I located him (he’s a repair tech and builder in LA), sent him pictures to see what info he had. He said it was from a P Bass he made for you some years ago, and it was stolen in transit to you. He said it is 90 year old quartersawn maple and 150 year old Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. As I said, it’s a great neck. When I got it, it was on a sea foam green cheap jazz body with Barts and an Audere preamp. Tuners were trash so I ordered new ones before I learned this story. Not sure how the neck ended up separated from the original bass and here in the Midwest, USA.

I knew the singles when I was a lad in the 80's but have only immersed myself in the Icehouse albums over the last few years, and wow what a band! What have been missing for 30 odd years! I was watching the 1984 Germany gig and was really blown away by your playing. I now know what an amazing career you've had - no wonder everyone wanted to hire you.
