I think the reason Connor doesn’t understand deviants is because he’s treated differently from the other androids. Most of the androids are trapped in their assigned low-level jobs (with no limit to how badly they can be treated), whereas he is treated as a ‘special’ android who does ‘important work’ (which is particularly exemplified by the scenes in the rose garden). Even officers who express hatred towards him know that there’s a limit to the damage/torture they can inflict on him, because a) he is known to be unique, and b) it would interfere with his work (as an android designated to analyzing the psyches of other androids).

Interesting. I find it that when it comes Clare and certain situations she thinks that “it’s a robot and so shouldn’t feel these things.” She couldn’t wrap around how something she believe isn’t human can have human emotions and beliefs which causes her to make some mistakes that she didn’t intended to do. I like watching people play these types of games, you notice so many different things regarding the game.

I agree! Each player will have their own unique playthrough, which is the main reason why choice-based games are so interesting to watch. If every streamer was psychic and/or read which exact choices to make ahead of time (i.e. in order to play the game ‘perfectly’), it would not be nearly as interesting to watch.

Also, the game is practically designed for people to accidentally kill characters and go down totally different rabbit holes (but not the ‘Sims’ type of rabbit hole, lol). This is only so that the choices they make feel more impactful 👍

The point this game is trying to make, in reference to Clare's "androids can't be programmed to love", is that as the androids evolve so to does their code. They are creating their own code/programming at the point and beyond when they become "deviant." They are enabled to provide their own coding/programming for any emotion they wish to feel, including love. That is the 'become' human aspect. Their coding becomes their own to build upon. It's wholly them, not just their CPU that creates their actions and decisions...it's like the path to consciousness that is discussed significantly in the first season of Westworld. I also totally agree with Clare's opinion on child androids, not only are there so many children suffering in the world that can be helped (creating child androids would prevent assisting kids in real need) but that can lead to severe mistreatment without significant protections or vetting...and let's face it, we can barely protect human children as it is throwing androids in the mix would only enable people. As for having android partners, the question of consent is really significant IMO. I mean is it really consent if they are programmed to be someone's partner? Without consciousness, or in the case of this game deviance, is there ever really true consent with these androids?

It is so interesting watching Clare play this because my decisions would be different. I think my decisions would stem from empathy, because as a POC I've had different experiences to Clare. People can be cruel for absolutely no reason. I might be over-empathizing with the androids but damn, I know how it feels to be the person in the room with the least amount of privilege and I've also read too much marvel fanfiction where JARVIS and FRIDAY are humanized a lot lol
@lilablossom5327

This. I feel like clare comes to this from the strict view that they are robots and isn’t able to connect it to our very reality because of ignorance. A lot if not all of these situations have direct parallels to the lives of marginalized people. The “taking our jobs” was one of the first oddly familiar phrases I noticed in the game

Watching Clare play this and hearing how vastly different the USA from UK is, it's heartbreaking. Yeah, in the USA police need a warrant to *search* your house, but they get very miffed if you do not allow them inside. Too many people are brutalized by police here in America. This game really opens up a lot of things that should be questioned in the USA.

From the title, I for sure thought you got Luther killed at Rose’s house and was happy to see that wasn’t the case. The part with Simon really surprised me. I’ve never seen that happen in any of the play throughs I’ve watched. People either save him or leave him. I’ve never seen someone start to save him and fail. And since only 2% of the players had that out, it must be pretty rare. I’m guessing you weren’t pushing the button fast enough and there’s a time limit? I guess you have to get him to the door before he gets shot again. That was very interesting. As for when you selected Ruse, you need to draw your gun. If you take too long to draw your gun North gets impatient and will attack. And as you discovered, saving Hank was the “wrong” choice in the studio. You selected that immediately without looking at your other, better options.
@tinof23beans
8 ай бұрын
Yes, I was so scared she had killed off a main character! I think the reason she failed to save Simon is that he was already hurt from when she failed the 'Ruse' interaction. He can normally get injured again and you still progress to the roof, but because he'd already been shot he couldn't handle anymore injuries.

Honestly I'm in two minds about kidbots. On one hand, there's always going to be sick monsters who prey on children and if it stops actual children from being harmed, sure give them those realistic dolls. Of course though, if the dolls have any degree of sentience, that's a no go. I can understand the perspective of people who've lost a child or can't have children of their own, however it doesn't seem like a replacement imo. You'll never see the robot child hit mile stones and grow older. They'll never go to college or get married or start their own families. It seems like a very short term solution and is just putting off the inevitable grief they'll feel from not having that future with their child.
@melz6625
2 жыл бұрын
you’d think they would stop at child dolls esp since they’re so human looking? And not feel encourage to escalate to the real thing?! Yeah exactly. Children are already so vulnerable. The US has not even yet signed the UN Declaration of Children’s Rights. And you want to add humanoid androids in child size that have absolutely no rights? nah. very bad idea.

In 2022 police in the USA need a warrant to enter your house. I have no idea if police in 2038 have permission to do so without a warrant. At the same time, once you've invited a police officer into your house they might need a warrant to SEARCH but they don't need a warrant to look at what's in plain sight. The cop was invited into the house and only looked at what he could see without an actual search.

It’s realistic that most humans are trash in this game…look at the real world and the state of things. In regards to the way humans are treating androids in games vs what they’d be like in real life Rose is a very realist representative of a person of color in America. There’d be S9ME that would be against androids having freedom or rights, but a majority know better and will never side w/ the groups going out picketing against others being free. We have long memories in numerous languages and in human culture these same behaviors were not too long ago used against us. Rose is very realistic. Whenever there is a people in need of recognition and support their best hope will always be to get people of color in your corner to stand a chance at winning. Sadly, after the battle is won, the people of color are then often betrayed by the very people they’d just helped. Black Seminole Indians, Black Americans and Irish/Scottish Americans, Blacks and Hispanics, Blacks and Koreans (WWII & Korean war), etc.
