12:38 actually Within 36 hours, Pheidippides covered 153 miles, the actual marathon was the last stretch of his running where he died. He didn’t ride a horse because the terrain was treacherous with constant ascending and descending. Most marathons ran by people are flat which is by far easier. What he accomplished at the time was absolutely insane even by today’s standards.

@@heinzhaupthaar5590 Well, ultramarathon runners exist and I’ve seen them go over 300 miles in distance in a race. One in Moab Utah ( a literal desert) has a distance of 240 miles with treacherous terrain. Temperatures can massively fluctuate from a 90+ degrees in the day to nearly freezing at night. Death on these courses and definitely within the realm of possibilities if you get lost or massive fatigue. While the standards can reach higher today, it isn’t by a massive margin. Honestly I’m convinced long distance runners are a different breed of people.

A *beach hole digging* is an observed phenomenon in which a group of guys, separated from the main foraging party, lose the pheromone track and begin to dug a hole in the sand, forming a continuously increasing hole that attracts more males. This hole is commonly known as a "death hole" because the males might eventually die of exhaustion.

@lordpumpkinhead265

As a male, the death by exhaustion is a myth. Eventually, someone will show up with ice cold beer to keep the war effort going. It may take a couple of hours, but there will be a fellow man with a cooler of cold beer ready to re-fuel us as we work. He will oftentimes join in to contribute, and allows anyone who is actively helping to dig the sand trench to grab a beer when they want, but is very protective of his cooler and will sense if someone not affiliated with the trench digging joins and will confront the thief.

No dad here, but I used to do that for my older brother and I'd get tired of his shit and just walk off. Learned at an early age never take shit from anyone for any reason. When I became a dad if I got frustrated I made a concerted effort to not behave like that. I found it easier to cope just by talking about what I was doing, explaining the why's and hows as well as I could and shit just got easier.

A story to tell related to the thumbnail: me and my brother (both male) were on vacation at a random beach almost no one knew about and we were playing by a stream we then decided to build a dam we started building, and after about 4 tries to make a dam and it works, some random guy decides to help too then another guy came along later and then that continues gradually until there were about 10 people who were all male (except for a little girl throwing seaweed on the dam) working with us we then finished the dam and me and my bro had to eat supper when we came back the next day, it still held up then in the afternoon some stupid teens trampled the dam and destroying something we worked on and and put more effort in it then we ever had i am still sad about it

British plug sockets are actually considered to be the safest in the world, as the top third prong reduces the risk of having an electrical shock. What happens is the third prong is longer than the bottom two and doesn't actually carry any current. When it's put in it lowers two plastic covers that are over the bottom two sockets that contain the charge, which makes them considerably safer.

I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole The sunlight will not reach this low Deep, deep in the mine Never seen the blue moon glow Dwarves won't fly so high Fill a glass and down some mead! Stuff your bellies at the feast! Stumble home and fall asleep Dreaming in our mountain keep Born underground, grown inside a rocky womb The Earth is our cradle, the mountain shall become our tomb Face us on the battlefield, you will meet your doom We do not fear what lies beneath We can never dig too deep I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole Born underground, suckled from a teat of stone Raised in the dark, the safety of our mountain home Skin made of iron, steel in our bones To dig and dig makes us free Come on brothers sing with me! I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole

Me and my friends dug a 6 foot hole to barrier me in well at the beach on our band trip. We dug with only a frisbee, it was one of the best 4 hours of my life
