This scene is genuinely sad. Also, when Andrew saved MJ he didn’t use his webs, which makes me think he thought about that moment thousands of times that he knew exactly what to do.
@Akko1

Yes of course, the way it happened totally hints he was prepared to try another way of solving this situation, imagine how many times he thought about this, reason he cried was probably because it did work, and he did not do it that way for Gwen.

In the comics, Peter actually rescued someone in a similar way to when he tired to rescue Gwen. It can fuck you up more, when you understand the context of it. In the comics, a similar scene happened (the only difference being location). Basically, he killed her with his webbing. When it hit her, it didn't stretch, so it snapped her neck from the sudden stop. Though she fell such a height, it wasn't so high that hitting would have instantly killed her. May have crippled her, but she probably wouldn't have died. In the comic scene this is based off of, had Peter done nothing, Gwen would have lived. She'd have been seriously messed up, but would live. She only died because Peter used his webbing.

It was also a huge criticism back when The Amazing Spider-Man #121 was released. If I'm not mistaken, that comic issue is The Night Gwen Stacy Died. When she had died, people were in utter shock because it was the first time a hero couldn't save the person they loved, and since then the whole concept of heroes can't save everyone was born and people loved the idea that a hero is just like everyone: with the same brain and heart. This is the saddest spider man universe. We left off on such a terrible part, there was no Mary Jane so all he had was Gwen Stacy and she died, his best friend suffered from a disease he was born with, he had no other choice but to embrace it and then not long after he died, a black man who had not much in his life had a tragic accident, his mind was then corrupted by electricity and faught Spider-Man then died, spider man was then going to have a number of villains to face on his own without support from friends or anything, he was the only hero of this world no avengers, fantastic four or anything, he was all on his own. 0:21 I’m sure everyone noticed this, but when the web slings out for Gwen it opens up like a hand reaching out for her. I think this is brilliantly done to show Spider-Man is doing everything he can to save her. There is no such lonely feeling similar to holding a loved one who’s died in your arms. I will always praise this movie for this scene and many others.

I think what I really love about this is how unexpectedly dark and tragic for a Spider-Man story it is. Not everyone has seen the comics so if you're someone who's only seen the movies and shows this would come up as a huge shock as usually he saves his love interest and it's his aunt &uncle that dies. But here instead he loses someone truly special to him and you just know that this wasn't supposed to happen but it did and it makes it that much more real. He couldn't be like every other Spider-Man, he lost his MJ and went down a dark path..

Came here to say that he fucking did it. He redeemed himself for his wrongs. He learned his lesson. It was so truly touching to see how Andrews Spider-Man still didn’t forgive himself, and then to be able to right that wrong in this universe, brought proud tears to me eyes. So glad they finally gave some closure to the amazing Spider-Mans Peter Parker.

Stop blaming him, it wasn't his fault anyway because he told her to stay away from the fighting scene, But it was her choice to be there. And secondly there's nothing he could've done to save her bc she was too far away. The reason why tobey was able to save Gwen was because there were big enough debris to use that to propel himself towards her.

Everyone else’s spider man feels like a power trip but Garfield’s felt like he was trying to fight so hard and in the end didn’t get the happy ending he deserves. Redemption, in no way home you can feel his pain and his relief. I felt like Tom and Tobey were so hyped to be there but Garfield’s acting was so real . To Further Iterate it feels like Garfield got closure as spider man but more importantly for himself, if you know all the drama and hate he got from fans and Sony it feels like this was him finally getting a W. What I mean by his acting was so real it felt like his acting was coming from the heart like him saving MJ was him saving himself.

Tobey* and real? That’s a dumb last statement. Tobey’s acting was just as “real” as well as Tom’s. Toms especially since it’s HIS movie and he really showed everyone he isn’t a spider boy anymore. This new movie was literally about tom growing up. Tom did just as good if anything, Andrew and Tobey’s acting were nice little treats. Tobey’s acting was that uncle Ben to Tom’s Peter in this film which was greatly acted.

Someone who came that close to death and lived would undoubtedly be at least saying something, if not moving around as well. They certainly wouldn’t turn into a rock.
