Loved the Old Ed Sullivan and his quirks. Yes, Fosse did this choreography. Note the Fosse Feet at the beginning. Rest In Peace Gwen, Bob, and Ed and the fellas!

When I was a stupid kid in the '70's, I was never the least bit interested in dance numbers. Now I find them surreal & sexy, more entertaining as Fantasy than most sci fi/fantasy movies. Really love watching these clips on KZitem.

I must have seen this, John P. Jones. Our family usually watched Ed Sullivan. Now that I see Gwen Verdon dance, I can't imagine forgetting this again. She is a joy to watch. Sometimes it is good to read a book at different stages of life too. I have tried this and seen different things each time.

Gwen looks a lot prettier here than in "Damn Yankees". always thought the hair & makeup people did her a great disservice on that movie. Lola's supposed to be the ultimate temptress, but aside from her zowie legs, she doesn't grab me.

I bet Ed made her wear that silly pink top.

Cute. My guess is, not choreographed by Bob Fosse. I always wondered how these were recorded. This didn't look to be pre-recorded. And if all the vocals are pre-recorded, then why have a live orchestra?

I am not sure of the choreographer. I know two of the guys in the number and can ask. Maybe some of the vocals were prerecorded...again not sure.

Agreed it's not Bob Fosse. A lot of the walks, port bras and wrist isolations seem very Jack Cole. Ms. Verdon used to be his assistant.

Yes, I am confused about the orchestra's role when songs are pre-recorded. Perhaps they only played the theme songs, and for singers who appeared, but not dance numbers.

Someone said that Gwen sometimes did her own choreography, and this was definitely in the vein of Jack Cole, but a much lighter vein.

You're right. It's Jack Cole, who choreographed both the stage and film versions of "Kismet," as well as Gwen's belly dance in "David and Bathsheba" and appeared as a character based on himself in the Bacall-Peck movie "Designing Woman." His style was almost as distinctive as Fosse's.

I adore Gwen Verdon, but jeepers creepers, that was awful.
