On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2017, the GWML through Reading was closed for engineering works, meaning that long-distance Great Western Railway services from South Wales and the South-West were diverted between Swindon and London Paddington via Oxford, Bicester Village and High Wycombe along the Chiltern Main Line. This brought the first HST diversions to the newly-rebuilt Oxford-Oxford Parkway-Bicester Village line since it was re-opened. A variety of HSTs and a single freight (Avonside Binliner) are seen at the following locations (in order of appearance):
High Wycombe
Gerrards Cross
Princes Risborough
Haddenham & Thame Parkway
Bicester Village
Oxford Parkway
