This dance is based on the much shorter (and much more genteel) Scottish Ceilidh dances "Gypsy Thread" and "Gypsy Girl's Headscarf", but with additional turns, do-si-dos, setting steps, and some swinging-down-the-set (the end result has a slightly frenetic, wandering feel at times -- hence the "Squirrel" part of the name). The folks in the video are dancing it for the very first time in the world ("Huzzah!" to you all for learning it so quickly!), with the set on the left doing a particularly good job of showing the steps from 0:57 to 1:46 (the other sets were good too!).
