sir can we use ordanery car engine for auto gyro will it flew into the air .or in some ultra lite aircrafts they are using 100cc bike engines is .if we can use bike or car engine what type of engine we must use and what cc we must maintain for this auto gyros please replay me sir

Depends on the overall wing design. A 30 foot rotor with a 12" web might have a capacity of 4.5 lbs per square foot of the circle the wing makes as it spins (not exact math) so if that area is 706, the total weight of the aircraft and cargo would have to he under 3177 lbs. At that capacity, most 4 cylinder, fuel injected auto engines (2L or smaller) could be adapted. But engines built for airplanes are not expensive. Older Polaris snowmobiles had rotax 2 cycle engines. Just swap the gear box. Smaller wings need smaller engines, bigger wings can carry bigger engines. Smallest 2 cycle I've seen power a manned ultralight was a 60cc chainsaw motor. But it didn't go above 100 ft.

I know hat a lot of people in the USA are *not* pilots, but I *did not know* that the actual number is less than 1% of the total population....

It is great to see someone who finally knows the correct name for these rotorcraft. Most people, even those who own them, stupidly think they are called "autogyros" and "gyrocopters". Then they argue when I correct them, giving the history of the BRAND NAMES "Autogyro(giro)" and "Gyrocopter". I also cite the FAA and even CAA of several countries, and they still argue, like total morons.

A fun video. If 1% of the USA fly's then that's about 3.5million pilots. I would say that makes pilots an elite group. My comment on small aircraft is I wish airplanes had mufflers. On summer weekends I often visit a lake where many seaplanes like to land & as much as I enjoy watching them I find their loud noise to be annoying. It's like having endless packs of open pipe Harley's driving by when you want to enjoy a cold ice tea on the porch.

Damn, I thought a lot of Americans were pilots and owned planes, with all the culture of airplane building and inventions, and the Oshkosh festival, Alaskan bush pilots, and so many youtube videos showing their planes and the like. Hell I've even seen videos of Americans hunting hogs with automatic guns from Vietnam war helis LOL. Where else do people own military helis?

Minor nit-pick... The toy does not reverse in flight. It climbs while using up the energy put into it then descends.

What about the fuel consumption of a gyroplane ? How much cheaper is it to run ?
@travishanson166
5 жыл бұрын
Uses a bit more fuel than a fixed wing. 5 gallons is good for about 60 miles or an hour of run time. But there are designs that reduce drag to increase efficiency. If you have electric or pull start, you can climb high and glide with engine off. But that would be after some experience with your machine. You would always want a safe place to land in case of a failed restart, but they will gently come down with no power.

Do you need left and right in the stick, some early blue prints dont show anything but forward and aft
@travishanson166

Some will have that in the pedals. Or simple use weight shift. I dont remember if it was benson or another fellow who would steer one in testing with his arms stretched out and just throttle for altitude.
@MattMcIrvin

With most of them, the stick works in all four directions, and there are also rudder pedals (and trims) and a throttle, like an airplane. There's no collective-pitch control like a helicopter's. In general, the control is more like a plane than a helicopter, though it's not exactly like a plane. Another control they usually have is pre-rotation-- you have to get the rotor spinning before you start your takeoff run, and there's usually a special transmission to do that that is only used on the ground. (Very bad to use it in the air, since an autogyro has no way to counter the torque.)
