I'm thinking here of something along the lines of the long rear tail wheel of the Black Hawks that cover that issue well. Because NH90 is no Airbus Helicopters. It is the result of a conglomerate between Dutch, Germans, Italians, French, Portuguese, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegians and Belgians... Well, a mess. @modelrailwaynoob
Жыл бұрын
@Babalonkie I understand they can be unclipped but it doesn't work like that on a battlefield. You need to be able to get a stretcher in, in front of those seats and the angle looks difficult with the size of the door. It was rare that helicopters were fitted just for stretchers. They have seats in for troops 99% of the time.

Doesn’t look very ‘battlefield’ it looks like a nice comfy aircraft, like the Merlin. Nice to look at but maybe not exactly what the soldiers would want? Big steps with heavy armour and kit doesn't always mean a quick entry or exit and the large egress points in the cabin won’t provide any ballistic protection when operating in hostile areas. I’m sure it’s a nice pilots aircraft….. but that’s not the point really. I like the continuity with the avionics from MFTS to the front line.

With the disaster of the NH90 being retired in Sweden Norway and Australia and the abysmal service record of the Tiger I wouldn't trust Airbus about helicopter: it's not that they are "bad concept" but they are acting as a committee where every participant has to bring and enforce an idea as a point of honour. France did a better job when Nord ans Sud Aviation were acting as aerospace company rather then being melted inside the Airbus political bureau. It it's simple and it works, the design has not been discussed enough!
@daemonicust
Жыл бұрын
Australia are in the process of trying to retire the NH90, they haven’t officially done it yet. The NH90 isn’t a disaster, the disaster comes from those who don’t care for the aircraft they have, in that they just throw money at the problem. New Zealand has the highest serviceability rate of any NH90 operator in the world, 75 % or there about’s. When the smallest fleet has the highest flying and serviceability rate, its not the aircraft that’s the issue.
@Louis-ej1lx
Жыл бұрын
@@daemonicust But the fact it has the smallest fleet explains why serviceability rates are so poor. The graph for serviceability rates is u shaped. This means very small and very large fleets have the best serviceability rates for the same airframe. Every other NH90 operating country has a medium sized fleet.
