Your routine is my routine! A few small differences: I clean my oven every time I use it; I empty, wipe out, declutter, and reload one drawer and/or shelf in a cabinet and/or pantry after I clean the kitchen in the evening, it takes about three months to go through every shelf and/or drawer, and when it's done I start over again; I clean my fridge once every two weeks before I get groceries. I live in the dusty southwest too, so my rule is if I have to walk from one end of the house to the other for something I take a damp cloth with me and dust every surface I pass. I'm also responsible for yard work, vehicle maintenance, and the garage since my husband is physically handicapped and is in early stages of dementia. I'm 71, I think being this active is keeping me in shape -- round is a shape right?! LOL!

The key is to do a little every day so you don’t have such a huge job to do. When we were growing up Mom had a rule that after we did our chores we could go and play. We were so blessed to be taught good work habits! When our four kids were living at home, I did laundry every day. I had one basket for white clothes, another for colored clothes, and another for very dirty farm clothes. The clothes were presorted so it made laundry a breeze. Sheets and towels were washed once a week. If you do the basics it will make life so much easier for you and hubby will be happy. If you are really behind in your work, pick up and clean one room at a time. Another thing is to limit how many toys the kids have. They have to be picked up and you have to have a place to put them. And when kids have so many toys their attention span doesn’t grow because they go from one toy to the next. That’s an observation I have seen while taking care of my grandson. Good luck on your journey to a more peaceful home for you and your family! Never give up!

My dear Mom passed away last year at the age of 91. She was a clean freak! She could see the tiniest crumb on the floor and of course she had to pick it up! And nobody could clean the table as good as she could! Our dear Mom had dementia but she was content to be cleaning all day long. Mom was a stay-at-home Mom but she was always working and we had a huge garden so she did a lot of canning and freezing. We were blessed to be able to care for Mom the last two years of her life. I'm actually really proud of myself for how much I found I already do for cleaning. I haven't used a planner like this but got in the habit of when I see it's dirty, I clean it and when it needs washing I do the laundry. Usually this happens twice a week. One day for clothes and other day for bedding and towels. Thank you so much for taking the time to share from the book by Cheryl. I wish I'd had this back when I was raising the kids cause thats exactly how I felt. Tired, unaccomplished, and frustrated so I hated housework. Kid chores were more work for me than not. I didn't realize how much of these things I do without even thinking about it. When you are the only one to take out the trash or even to gather it, and your the only one to do the laundry, cook and clean everything, pay the bills and drive to all the doctor appts. you learn to adapt real fast from the days of having kids or husbands to help with things. I appreciate the pointers though. My goal now is to be brave and declutter my drawers, cupboards, closets and shelves. I started with my pantry because the cans kept falling out on me. Now I look forward to opening the door to see everything organized and catagorized. I can actually find things now for food prep. My real challenge will be getting rid of things especially sentimental things. I did start by giving some of my doll collection to granddaughters for christmas and birthday gifts. Sometimes when you see they don't take care of things that were special to you its hard, but I had to remind myself that once you give something away it's theirs and you have no say so in what happens to it.

I was (and still am) also trying to keep up with extensive gardens and our 14 room, 350 yo ALWAYS under renovation farmhouse with various sets of shedding cat trios over the years. Get this book if you don't have it!

I love it I even use it on refrigerator doors etc. it scrubs so well with three brush heads for different things... - I used white vinegar for cleaning my refrigerator doors, water dispenser handles ... what a difference... - I also use white clean cotton sock to clean my blinds every so many months

May I share the Bible truth of the seventh day sabbath? Briefly. Three scriptures. And Jesus our great exemplar. Genesis 2:2&3. In the beginning God built a foundation for eternal worship. And He provided marriage in context. God is generous in sharing truth with us so we can know His will for us. Exodus 20:8-12 is the Ten Commandments. Focused on the fourth here. A gentle reminder knowing humanity would forget. And Exodus 31:12-18. It’s easy still to research on google how rome “ changed “ the law of God. How nice to see how my mother and father used to clean. I got away from some of it as I aged, such good memories. I love cleaning. Thank you. I thought it was a lost art. 😊

Thank you! I am in the young children homeschooling phase of life and I’ve been needing to get a plan. I have a 2,200sqft home and my kiddos are being trained to help with the daily home care and maintaining that needs to be done. Thanks for your video I appreciate it very much! God bless

This is Soo helpful! I'm a mom of 6 and one on the way. My house is never truly ever clean. It's been so stressful tryna figure out how to keep it clean. My mother didn't teach me but at this point there's no excuse. These daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal tasks will definitely help us tremendously. May have to tweak a few things like laundry and mopping that's something I think we need to do daily or at least every other day bc these kids are always making messes and peeing in beds 😣 or just peeing in corners 🤢. It's like having a bunch of puppies 😅 A lot of toddlers in my home lol.

Yes, I start with pulling the bedding all the way to air out. Then make it about an hour. This really a difference in how fresh your bed feels. I can’t imagine making a bed without airing out first. Yes, clothes are put up before going to bed to avoid having to do it the morning. I clean up as I go when cooking so when the meal is ready, the kitchen is all clean. On laundry, I wash all the towels together then sheets separately. Clothing is as needed when I have a load of darks or lights. Baths are cleaned together, but not on a designated day. That made it a dreaded chore for me. I clean each sink ineach bath then the toilets, then the tub, mirrors are last then mop each one. For the refrigerator, I do a shelf a day. That way the whole fridge gets cleaned each week. Weekly dusting includes the top of door frames, Isn’t fixtures and such. It is always fascinating to see how others choose to do their cleaning. There are so many videos posted showing how different individuals to their house. Glad you found what works for you. It is grand when you discover the sweet spot for you.

Hi Robin - I just loved this video. It especially hit me when you read about inflexibility and too high expectations. This is my problem. I am by nature very organized and goal oriented. Sometimes if I have something on my list I will do or die trying. I have come to see that this isn’t realistic or healthy. In my work career and raising my girls this ridged adherence to obtaining goals and high expectations benefitted me and my family but now I sometimes think it does more harm than good. It’s a fine line to walk. Recently, I have added two more zones to my house because I felt like it was too much to accomplish in a week. Well, we have to keep a close eye on the hurricanes out in the Gulf. This time yesterday I was planning to go visit Melissa (Dallas daughter) but this morning it looks like we aren’t in the middle of the cone as we were yesterday. Of course, we need to keep watching because those storms could change. I normally pick these times for a visit because I hate having no power for days at a time. This time I would prefer to stay home if possible because I haven’t felt that good. Rachel moved back to college yesterday. She goes to college about 4 hours drive from here. Not as far as Kyle for sure. They were FaceTiming me yesterday so I could be apart of all the goings on. It was so fun. Love in Christ, sweet friend.

What a great information video. I have learned so much about cleaning schedules and I now have a cleaning schedule that I have adapted. A few things i do different would be that on a daily I do vacuum the entire house, dust and mop the floors because I have an 18 month toddler. I wash the dishes after use while im still l cooking, oven and stove are cleaned after each use and my car is vacuum, dusted and washed on a weekly basis. My bathroom I tried to clean it 2-3 times a week because i share it with my dad and I just can't stand the bad odors.

Loved this video... When I was working and the kids were home I had a housekeeper that would come every 2 weeks... We tag teamed cleaned.. She did certain things and I did certain things to get that monthly cleaning done... It really worked great.. Now I have so much arthritis it has been extremely hard for me to clean at all.. I loved your suggestions.. I hope you will do a video talking about routines for aging adults and the disabled... I want to get the book...My DILs don’t have a routine for cleaning... It really puts a lot of stress on them..

I agree ... as we boomers are all aging together it would be wonderful if SOMEONE in yt land could focus on helping those of us who are disabled and have NO ONE available to help us around the house. Also for caregivers taking care of disabled and/or elderly.
