can you give us more details about it as far as what accesories did you get when you bought it or even make a video about it ?@@DesignedByJared

@@ariasairforce A video about it is an interesting idea. It's basically stock but I added a coolant option, a pan, and a cage. The tooling is the more interesting part but that is too long to go over a YT comment.

@@michaelcw6792 Potentially. Not sure how to export the full file from fusion 360 at the moment but I’ll look into it. Or do you just want the nc program?

hang in there bro! I have no CNC so your aluminum case is still far and beyond what I can make for myself. That gadget looks pretty great for real-life standards and freaking awesome for made at home standards. Tony Stark built this in a cave with a box of scraps, but he actually had a whole special effects team doing the polish and bugfixes.

The slowness is probably from the screen. From what I recall using a screen connected over GPIO bypasses the GPU so you cant use hardware acceleration on anything so the CPU is always dying. personally I would have used one of the pi compute modules but I have no way of making an interface board for that, nor do I know of any off the shelf units.
@DesignedByJared

Another vote for a compute module + custom PCB. I really like the form-factor of your deck, and the battery modules. I hope you get it to work well.

not sure if this would be suitable for the project entirely, but what if you only made the raspi stream from another computer, and all the calculations were done remotely? like for example a vps or a home server. this way the pi can just be lazy and only require an internet connection of some sort, and possible still be able to stick with using a smaller, lower powered pi like the first one you used in the video? i cant imagine a 4g adaptor would take up much space either? maybe not what youre looking for, but just an idea
@DesignedByJared
5 ай бұрын
That’s kind of what I was aiming for. But it seems the pi zero struggles with just processing the screen. Though someone told me this could be due to gpio pins bypassing gpu and using all of the cpu. Or something like that. Thanks for the advice though.

super cool project! Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Kinda sad youre not putting the coral in there, maybe try and get the case off of it to save room? Cyberdeck with a coral is sick af
@DesignedByJared

I am gonna put in the coral. It’ll be one of the module piece. I’m still debating on what to do but one idea I had was to treat what I made as just an interface and have modules change its function. For example one module is just power, another uses coral usb so I can use this kind of like the R1 rabbit and another module can add controller handles for piloting something.

How does one get into hobby hacking
@DesignedByJared

I think it’s different for everyone but something that helped me was deciding on a project first. There is a lot of stuff to learn out there but learning everything step by step takes too long and not everything is needed at once. But having a project in mind and continuously asking questions about it online helps in making it a reality. 3D printing has also come a long way in making prototyping quick and cheap.

I really want to make a cyberdeck with a blackberry style thumb keyboard for RPi Zero W/2W devices. No touch screen or GUI; just a plain TTY on a plain LCD.
@k98killer
2 ай бұрын
Also, it needs to fit the RPi Zero W with a small case. The goal is to be able to swap in a device, configure it, then swap it out and let it do its thing. Lugging around a bunch of wires and stuff is obnoxious.

Guess I'll never know how great the CyberDeck is - I got tired of listening/watching at 1:30. If you have something great, you MUST reveal it in the first 10 seconds or you're just another junk vendor who takes 30 pages to finally get to the price.
