if you watch the reving crank from the front the crank is going to look like someone trying to swing a hoola hoop around its waist , even when oiled normally its going to wear out the center bearings and snap eventually could pump oil intoo the oil pickup using a pump and a hose and just let the oil flail around when the engines running and clean the floor up afterward you can hack parts off the counterweights give whats left a knife edge so it has less resistance rotating through oilvapour in the pan fit forged aluminium rods , weigh out the small ends and pistons to match and get pretty close to balanced again (need a balancing machine to see if its good) , it will still wipe out the middle bearings though but will rev to the moon

you guys should build a DIY lumpy cam. run a bead of weld down each of the cam lobes, sand it real smooth, and keep them all as close lift as possible. could be done with vernier calipers. very curious to see how it'd effect this engine. you could also lighten the flywheel on a brake lathe :)

Those are called crankshaft weights, counter weights, without them ,as long as crankshaft is balanced ,engine will work ofc normally ,but it will lose some of it power.I am farmer, and at one of our tractors we did engine overhaul, engine from factory had crankshaft with weights on them, something similar like this one,but they could be removed ,had screws on them.Anyway after engine overhaul we just added crankshaft without those weights and engine lost some of its power,or at least on lower rpm untill he reach higher ones,i guess something like torque. But indeed it rev easier ,ofc it will when crankshaft is lighter, remove flying wheel and it will rev even better.

The imbalances of the crack shaft are compensated between both halves, so there is no vibration, but it increases the forces that the middle of the crank shaft has to support as each part of it is unbalanced.
