Figure out your hair porosity and take care of your hair according to that. GAME CHANGER!!! For example, I have low porosity hair, so daily I use the LCO method. Weekly, I pre-poo with rice water. Then I wash, then deep condition and steam. Then, regular condition. Once a month, I do a bentonite clay mask followed by a clarifying shampoo.

Whether you wanna be a fierce naturalista or a straight natural like me, heat protectant and baby your ends between washes. Nothing makes you lose length faster than split ends and heat damage, but you’re hair can dry out and break too (learned than while keeping it in pin curls but no bonnet while dealing with an extended Sickle Cell crisis). Ofc you don’t need to use heat, but if you do want to and you’re careful, you can minimize the damage. I also implemented other things my beautician does, like steam treatments, deep condition abs I baby my ends with a light oil every few days for retention. My hair has been less than 3 in from waist length but I had to cut it because of heat damage trying to stretch the time between appointments. There are other ways to keep hair stretched! My favorite is pincurls. Now I’m about six inches from waist length and only flatiron ONCE after applying protectant liberally! One last tip, use hair shears if you wanna trim yourself. I used regular scissors because I couldn’t find the shears and my hair spilt along the cut (only my bangs split and I’d only cut them, so I knew it was the scissors). LAST time doing that! Happy growing!

Something similar that I see often in Jamaica, it's where a person owns the salon and employs a lot of hairstylists and others in the cosmetology field (nail techs, barbers etc) but they're not actually working there. Another thing that I see is that, someone would rent the space to those in the Cosmo field ONLY. So basically, instead of employing them, it's a hub of hairstylists working in a space. And they basically pay rent for their "chair" - which is basically their corner of the salon
