I have been in cosmetology school in France and we learned afro hair has the slowest growth rate. The fastest being Asian hair. The 0. 5inch is for European hair...

Crazy enough I was attacked on KZitem for stating this fact but its because so many are not educated on this fact. Anyone who's been to school for hair knows different ethnicities hair grows at different rates and African hair is the slowest and that's okay. It's still beautiful & can grow.

I totally agree with protective styling, just started my regimen in April. Had my braids in for 2 months, once I take it out, deep condition, hot oil treatments &let it breathe. Start the process again in few days! May not work for you, everyone is DIFFERENT!

Yup. That reminds me of my regimen when I first started growing mine. I only allowed myself 2-3 weeks max between protective styles but I kept mine in for usually around 3 months (with rebranding the perimeter for neatness).

I used to be on the protective style treadmill, but with all the breakage and dryness I've had, it seems obvious to me that those styles don't protect anything.

How were you able to change the growing phase of your hair if it is hereditary? As a mature Afro woman with thinning hair, the dermatologist recommended Minoxidil. It worked by extending the growing phase of my hair and it has added a few inches to my hair length.

This is crazy cause my family has various hair types. And most of the member's HAIR in my family grows really fast. Depending on the time of year, sometimes 3/4 in./ Mo. Interesting.

Genetics is like that isn't it, but that's amazing growth. Still isn't not the reality for the many so count yourself lucky!

What part of Africa was this test taken from, were they all men or women? Or both? How old were they, were they from a similar family or tribe? 🤔🤔

The test wasn't in Africa, it was African people living in France. If I was to guess though, it's likely to be people from West Africa as they are those that tend to live in France due to a common language. Africa is a big place though and genetics vary from one tribe to the next. It was a mix of men and women in the study btw, just follow the link in the description to see the full study.
