Is Hall the number one pick right now for a small home bronze cultivar planting?

I think it is a good pick, especially since it is self-fertile. I also think Triumph has excellent flavor for home use. Fry, of course, is well known for its good flavor, and I like Summit as well. To me, the bronze ones are not terribly different from each other in terms of quality. However, some female bronze types are shy bearing some years whereas Hall and Triumph seem to always bear well.

Patrick! Cheers for the Video's, ''Excellent'' Work, One question, How dose one go about obtaining known parentage seed for selection/breeding, I'm just a hobby grower, but know enough to know, it's best to start with seed someone has imputed plenty of hard work into, Muscadine seed of any type are rather hard to come by online. I have only been able to get Carlos and Nobel seeds with unknown pollinator origin, any advice would be much appreciated. as would more video's on Muscadines. Keep up the Good Work!

Muscadine is VERY hard to emasculate without damaging the pistil. For this reason, we almost exclusively cross female x self-fertile in the breeding program and keep female selections as breeding lines and test the self-fertiles for potential release (the progeny is 1:1 female:self-fertile). To keep the female from being pollinated with use small organza bags (from ULINE.com) to keep the insects out and then as soon as the cap falls off pollinate with the self-fertile (I'll try to remember to do a video this spring). Most seed from self-fertiles will have been self-pollinated and therefore likely lower vigor and quality than the parent. If using open pollinated seed I would use a large high-quality parent like Supreme which since it's female you know would have been cross-pollinated. Be sure to stratify seed at least 3 months and then be patient for germination.

@@patrickconner6532 Thanks for your insight helps a lot. seeds of the Supreme Cultivar would be good, ..no in fact ''would be grate''. unfortunately I'm in New Zealand, there are No Muscadine/seeds here, nor are there any dedicated suppliers of Muscadine seed world wide, only a hand full of sellers on Ebay many not even in the US, few give a Cultivar name, the American PawPaw, Asimina Triloba comes to mind, in that most seeds sold for years where of unnamed/inferior stock until the Kentucky State University Paw Paw Program made available for the market improved seed stock, perhaps this is something that could be looked at for the Muscadine after all the Vinifera held dear by so many only developed it's grate diversity after travelling around the world adapting. Many Thanks!! Keep up the Good Work.. Yes Please to any and all New Muscadine Video's !!!!

Hall does really well in upstate South Carolina. It's my favorite bronze both in flavor and yield. The vines are extremely healthy.
