Our fairly easy walk, up to the peak of Hallin Fell, near Ullswater, turned out to be Steel Knotts peak and all because we took the wrong footpath at St Peters Church. We parked up at the bottom of the fell rather than driving up the very winding and steep single track road. We walked up to the church, and took the footpath behind the car park and not the one in front of it which led to the circular walk around the peak of Hallin Fell. Still we enjoyed Steel Knotts walk although it was tiring and classed as a moderately hard. The Daughter and three Grandchildren made it to the peak. Amazing views over and around Ullswater.
