For me I liked this one for being different didn't love it but I appreciate that it tried something different I found Kills decent for the hack and slash but wasn't a huge fan so I was more open to something new with this one. To me this movie basically took the concept of the ending of H4 with Jamie becoming a killer to potentially team with Myers only to never happen. This movie pretty much took that idea and ran with it I do feel the movie didn't go full force with it if you are going with the idea anyone can be the shape if they are a serial killer then I feel Corey should have just fully become the new Myers by the end that and the whole Laurie vs Michael climax felt tacked on and shouldn't have been part of the movie. This whole movie is built around Corey and Allison and should have had a climax with those 2 with Laurie as a secondary character they should have had the movie end with Allison having to kill Corey while he was in the Michael outfit in order to save Laurie that would have been more powerful and fit this story better. In my opinion this Halloween trilogy could easily be shortened down to 2 movies you could easily take the 2018 movie and combine the mob subplot of Kills into it and introduce Corey earlier in the first movie then go straight to Halloween Ends and it would play smoother.
@perfectpasta3155

Well it does say some thinga, Corey’s entire arc is about how people want something evil like Michael Myers to blame and to fear, it’s just not told well at all and he dies by the end and i shouldn’t have to explain how that isn’t an ending. It feels like the writers had an idea but wrote themselves into a corner whilst simultaneously remembering they had to end the trilogy so they just said fuck it and killed him off

It was just such a baffling way to end a trilogy. -Focusing on a new guy that the audience had never met and had no reason to care about. I still think that Allyson (more on her shortly) should have been the main focus here. -Giving the characters who the audience does know very little to do and not really paying off the setups for them in any way. -Having seen the movie a few times, I HATE the way Allyson is written in the film. What she’s doing, what they have her say, reducing her to “love interest,” etc. NONE of it works for me. -Sort of just abandoning the plots and stories set up in the first two films to just go off on some random thing at the last minute. -Etc. Maybe this would have worked as it’s own standalone thing (with better writing imo), but it fails as the conclusion to an Ongoing story.

I think the way this could have went was maybe a mini series or a special that focused on new killings leaving more of an air of mystery about if Michael is back or not. The idea of Michael being a monster just completely naturally without any outside influence we know of as a contrast to Corey becoming one due to Haddonfield's paranoia against him is an interesting idea. Have Corey's story about slowly being warped into a monster by the town's collective hysteria without him ever interacting with Myers UNTIL the very end of it. Have Corey go through his own little story ending with him fleeing to the sewers injured only for a weakened Michael to kill him. As the life fades from Corey's eyes Myers goes from a hunched weaker silhouette to standing upright again as the infamous Shape before credits roll. Then an actual Halloween Ends movie could happen instead focusing on the characters primarily from the previous movies.

This trilogy is such a waste of potential and a truly baffling mess of concepts. The 2018 film was a really solid return to form. It was tense, Michael was spooky and intimidating, and the music kicked ass. It felt like classic Halloween. I wasn’t a huge fan of removing H2 from canon and making Laurie and Michael unrelated and making Laurie a hyper paranoid weirdo for 40 years. It felt like their confiict with each other was lessened, but it worked for the most part. Then Kills all of a sudden wanted to strip the trilogy of all of its suspense and subtlety and became a full on blood bath slasher with over the top gore and some of the dumbest characters I’ve ever seen in a horror film. It kept Laurie in a hospital the whole time making her practically usless, and also show-horned in that cringe mob mentality subplot. The movie also insinuated at the end that Michael is supernatural with him taking an absolute beating and multiple gunshots as a 61 year old man, and then getting back up like nothing happened. It says he gains power the more he kills?? Then all of a sudden we skip ahead in time in Ends, after Kills ended with a cliffhanger. A brand new main character Corey is introduced, who we have never met before, and it’s the final film of a trilogy 😑 Michael is a decrepit old hermit for some reason?? Didn’t he gain power?? And him and Laurie are sidelined until the very end for a forced lazy final fight, all the while the movie wants to beat you over the head with some deep message about evil evolving or some shit… it’s a Halloween movie!!! It’s not that deep! Just an absolute mess of a trilogy.

They crushed Michael's elderly skull like an empty egg shell, in that giant crushing/shredding machine during the end of the film. So Halloween didn't end, but this version of Michael Myers clearly did.....unless he can reform his body back together from a pile of bloody mush? I'm a fan of this new trilogy, but the massive focus on the Corey character (that wasn't in any of the previous films) was a massive mistake, and lost opportunity for using the final film to actually answer some of the many questions and mysteries that has been set up in the previous films, hence a lot of people rightfully being disappointed with the final film.....no-one wanted Corey Cunningham as the lead character and main focus of the last film. But the one thing that this new trilogy definitely got right was the performance and visual design of Michael Myers, the Mask's and general vibe of the character was great throughout these three films, just a shame the storyline that went nowhere? 🎃

I agree. I actually quite enjoyed the trilogy, and Halloween Ends. It wasn't a bad film, but I feel like it would have served better by itself. Kind of like how Halloween 3 would have fared better separated from the Halloween franchise. After coming off of Halloween Kills I couldn't really complain about Michael not being in most of the film. I'd already seen a lot. I just feel like they lost the plot about halfway through this movie. The story that they were trying to tell, didn't really have a payoff. I can still enjoy it though. We find out Allison had a son (she was pregnant as she was leaving Haddonfield) and she has to come back for the funeral. During her time back, the boy starts acting strange, angry, violent. The evil that was in Michael that he passed to Corey, is now in his son. Body count starts to rise, Allison has to make the tough decision to stop her son, and you can see where this goes.

I think this was a missed opportunity to make a cliffhanger ending where Allyson kills Michael and it hints that she's now inherited his evil or whatever. They set that up perfectly if you think about it. The way she's gripping the knife at the end of 2018. Her parents getting off'd, her friends, her boyfriend. The way the relationship between her and Laurie strains. Would of been perfect in my opinion. And they should of left it there, like no sequels.

I love how perfectly they were setting up that Michael absorbs the souls of his victims and that is how he is able to heal from any injury. This would also explain why Michael had disappeared for so long. He was so weak that he couldn't really overpower anyone. If you want to stretch this further you could say that Michael didn't just possess Corey, he transfered part of his soul into him. Now everyone who is killed by Corey their soul is transferred into Michael, healing him faster. Then, when Michael kills Corey that is Michael taking back his soul. Instead, they went this route.......

Thank you for acknowledging how ludicrous Laurie's character develops. 40 years of isolation because of one night. Then when he kills your daughter and the entire neighborhood, now its time to forget and be a grandmother. 😅😅

On the discussion of it Michael kills kids or not, he did try to kill Jamie in Halloween 4 & 5. And there were a set of tie-in comics showing Michael as a kid in the sanitarium, with Loomis slowly beginning to see how evil he truly is as he kills some of the other kids, and even kills Loomis’s fiancé.

And it was such an easy slam dunk concept from the jump. Bring back these iconic characters and continue their journey from where we last saw them. Don’t make them unrecognizable shells of their former selves. Don’t introduce random new main characters that the audience doesn’t care about, and don’t make OBVIOUS bad choices just to “do something different” The fact that Luke Han and Leia never share a scene together in the sequels is fucking criminal

If they had actually planned this trilogy and Corey was apart of things from the beginning and they built up to all of this it would have been better recieved, i think. It would still have sucked to not have Michael as much, but at least we wouldnt spend the entire movie with a random person that didnt exist before. It cheapened everything and was just uninteresting overall. It could have been goos, if it was actually thought out. But you could say that about this entire trilogy.

Laurie choosing to leave all that shit in the past after suffering even more trauma is the most unrealistic part of the whole movie honestly lol. Remember how Dr Loomis in each movie gets progressively more unhinged due to the shit he had to go through in the pursuit of stopping Michael? Yeah that was a lot more interesting to watch.

The writing and acting was actually way better in this movie than Halloween Kills. But it didn’t fit the trilogy. Shoulda just kept the trilogy all on the same night. Blumhouse (although swore not to in the beginning) fell into the same trap everyone else did with Halloween sequels. They tried to do too much. They tried to explain everything and tie loose ends together. Ppl always forget what made the original scary. You don’t need to explain shit.

Over 1 year later and I thought this was terrible I’m baffled David Gordon Green thought this was a good idea They are talking about a tv series now so maybe that can rectify a few things When I saw this last Halloween 2022 at my theater I thought it was a mixed bag; a lot of stuff they could've left in the cutting room floor and Michael Myers is severely absent in this This script's focus isn't in the right place Very polarizing for a lot of fans I agree But I love Jamie Lee Curtis giving it her all saying goodbye to this character of Laurie Strode and there's some very good acting from Andi Matichak They tackle commentary of in-cells, guilt, trauma, and paranoia creeping in infecting a community like a plague I had some of the same issues with Jurassic World: Dominion with the director not having his priorities in tact The final 10 min is the stuff I wanted to see, it just didn't gel with the majority of what's presented before Not the big curtain call I was hoping for but if they make a newer version in the future maybe they'll rectify a few of these writing issues My favorite installments after 13 movies are still the original, H2O, and the 2018 film

Good to see you finish this series. As I said before, this entry just declined to a total anti-climax and just stops rather than ends. The bulk of the characters are so aggressively stupid in this film and it was really a crying shame that Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie is SIDELINED in her own story. Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween IV-The Return Of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween H20-20 Years Later (1998), & Halloween (2018) are all awesome. The rest are either garbage or mediocre as hell as far as I am concerned. Fun Fact: Halloween 2018 had a deleted scene where Cameron and Allyson actually reconciling and it was much better than this crap.

Jeremy Allen was horribly mistaken; Michael Myers WILL kill a kid given the circumstances that motivates him to do so. The 2018 film, he snapped the neck of the dancing middle-schooler and in Halloween Kills he beheaded (off screen) one of the punk kids who were playing in the park. Pre-Teen or Teen, they're still kids, Jermey would be singing a different tune if The Shape were to stand before him. Instead, he got a very harsh lesson in Karma.

This would've been a better movie if it focused solely on Corey and didn't involve MM at all. I think they had a good storyline with Corey being put in a position where he becomes what they feared in a sort of self-fulfilling prophesy, pushing Corey into a corner until he is so broken he accepts the role foisted upon him and becomes a killer showing that despite Micheal not being a presence, his legacy still haunts the town.

If they planned this out as a trilogy, they could have had Corey start his arc in the first film and end it here. His entire story line should have been over the first two films in the back round, and it would have worked. Shoehorning him in and sidelining Michael to do the entire arc in the finale of the trilogy is just such a stupid decision. The backlast Halloween got for sidelining Lorie for almost the entire film, should have told them how stupid it was... i mean who looks at that backlash, and then thinks it's a good idea to sideline Michael for the finale for almost the entire thing??? I liked the first film, thought Kills was okay, but Ends is just terrible, and there isn't much good stuff to say about it. It makes you wonder what goes through the writer and directors minds sometimes.
