Starting in 2007, we had a tight group that played Halo almost every night together. In 2012, our good friend who went by the gamer tag Lt.Nick had gone to the hospital with a severe throat infection. After a week with no word, his account went online, but we didn't know it would be the last time. It was his nephew. We were obviously confused and bombarded him with questions. He tearfully told us that Nick was discharged from the hospital and took a train home. On the train, he was confronted by an unhinged man who had suddenly produced a knife and attacked Nick without warning. He was stabbed over 20 times and taken back to the hospital where he was placed in a medically induced coma in critical condition due to blood loss. During surgery his heart had stopped and he was revived. Nick fought hard to stay with us, but sadly never recovered from the injuries sustained from a random act of violence. He passed a few days later. Though we had never met in real life, the loss of Nick was incredibly painful for all of us. Lt.Nick - Last online: 11 years ago. Spartans never really die though, do they? See you on the other side brother.

It's one of my favorite quotes. Arbiter states it at the beginning when chief tries to put a bullet in his skull. Johnson says to be nice and try not to kill their new ally and that's when the arbiter hits us for the first time with that quote. He's saying he wouldn't go down that easily. Then he hits us again at the end when they're at chiefs and the rest of the soldiers funeral and it's said "I just wish he (chief) were here to see it (it being the end of the war)". The Arbiter having fought side by side with master chief and knowing what he's capable of responds with "were it so easy" because he knows chief wouldn't go down that easily.

I like to think that for the Arbiter to attend the memorial ceremony, it truly solidifies his deep respect for the humans. Seeing how they honor their fallen. Hearing words like “duty”, “courage”, “honor”, and “sacrifice”. Words that the Sangheili can relate with. It just shows that despite appearances, humans and Sangheili are not so different than they thought. From this moment on, the Arbiter will always regard humans as either the noblest of allies, or the worthiest of adversaries.

its pretty scary to think about how young i was when this made such a deep impact on my actual soul. halo will never again be able to match up to what it was for its time, and how well it was executed with even just the music alone, and of course everything else like the vocal acting, to the way it played among all of the other games of its time. i got way too into the halo universe. so a piece of me will always live there. some of these songs are like going back to visit that preserved piece of my childhood self.

@@Ray-wj6nw not probably, the timing is everything. the era of gaming it was part of made it possible for such a simple game to stand out the way it did. plus being kids at that time, our perception of fantasy all together was was a lot of what made the halo world so special already. but then its the love they put into the universe. the lore. the music. the way they tell the story that made it stand out compared to other games of its day to me. all of that stuff, plus something else i probably cant even put into words rn brewed into the perfect storm to take our childhood minds and run with them. that, and a lot of kids in our generation grew up with far too much screentime, as screens in general were fairly newfangled and misunderstood as babysitters. bungie could come back and buy halo again, or just even remaster the old halos. and even then, it probably just wont ever be the same feeling. gaming is like, dead, because its so alive. nothing is special anymore. it all feels like the same thing or something. like cars.

This is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard of, and I came across it not because of Halo, but because of a video of a painting. Once I found out it was part of the Halo soundtrack, well known for the countless of videos of guys singing in the bathroom, I felt joy. If I thought that melody, the one I'm referring to, was beautiful, this one is heckin' insane. I saw the cutscene in which they played this in. Beautiful. And it seems so loved by people. Never played Halo, but after this, I might. Edit to add: my dedication of this piece to everyone who died in war as an innocent, or has tragically passed after any kind of battle. To those who are still alive but lost so much to these as well.

I played this after I finished halo infinite on LASO. On the surface it doesn’t seem like much but this was after spending 21 hours on my 1st time doing it. I got no achievement and waited for it to be fixed. I replayed the game on LASO and finally got my achievement. It’s over for me, but there’s still more LASO stuff I need to complete. I’m gonna tie up some loose ends.

I’ve been hearing this a lot on Shorts, and I am genuinely afraid that those shitty TikToks will be someone’s first experience with Halo.

I joined the international legion of Ukraine December 2022. After training we joined up with the 92nd brigade in Kharkiv oblast. The next month would be the most hellish experience of my life. I lost 8 brothers in arms during my time there. I randomly decided to listen to this score after God knows how long. The music along with the quote about the heroes who didn't return, it brought me to tears. At the same time, a work van drove by with the name Thibault on the side. That was the name of one of my friends who didn't make it. I lost it at that point.
