How is the performance if you were trying to play ranked on this? Would it still be possible for it to be a good experience? Great video!
@beyondtheringgaming
Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I can’t comment on that since I don’t play ranked myself. However I don’t notice any difference in how I play on my steam deck vs my computer with a controller outside of the obvious FPS difference. I would expect on ranked though the smaller screen could be an issue. You do see less detail.

Awesome video! This is the exact video I needed to watch. Just ordered the steam deck and waiting on it to arrive. Great job testing both SteamOS and Windows! It was simplistic testing but the point came across just fine so I enjoyed it.
@beyondtheringgaming

Yeah I did not want to go super in depth with the testing since that just isn't what I do professionally. So figured go at it from the prospective of a average player instead of nitpicking everything. But I still felt like I should at least include some data on the differences for anyone trying to decide where to play it. Hope you get your steam deck soon! I was cautiously optimistic about it when I ordered, but I have been seriously blown away by this.

It really is, like obviously it is less powerful than my computer or xbox. I am traditionally someone that, cares decently about graphics. I mean I have a 3090 on my computer right now. But the usability of this thing is just far more than I ever expected. I still have some issues with it. But for the first version like this. It is insane and I have barely turned on my xbox or used my PC for gaming.

Yo dude! I wanted to say thanks for this video. I am an ol' G Halo fan and started playing right when CE was released! I was debating about getting a SDeck but seeing the actual event of being able to play Infinite (which is my fav Halo game so far) anywhere you go is just the beeze neeze! lol I am convinced now 100 about getting a SD. Just gotta decide what card to put it on... 😄 I do have a ? Can u comment on your hands feeling tired after an hour or 2 of gaming on the Deck? Thanks
@beyondtheringgaming
Жыл бұрын
As far as playing anywhere, just want to make sure you are aware that it does not have cellular connection in it, so you will need wifi. As far as my hands go. I have noticed sometimes they get tired, the steam deck is quite a bit heaver than the Nintendo Switch. But I tend to play in shorter bursts. Like I will play a quick game or 2 and take a break for a few minutes. So I have not done long sessions a ton.

if you're using steam deck it's a pitty to not try out Gyro aiming on other shooting games as well after the december update i recommend it in halo infinite too thou since MnK is now buffed a LOT if you're sticking to stick only i'll instead recommend you to invest in Hall effect joystick modules to get rid of stick drift for good :)

I have not noticed much for drift. But since I play Halo on multiple platforms I did not want to get used to using Gyro on one platform only. I wanted to be able to switch from pc (with controller), console, steam deck with minimal difference.

So I have an Xbox can I sync my stuff from there to here? And will I still have it on my Xbox and the deck
@beyondtheringgaming
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Anything multiplayer side will sync regardless of what platform you play on. If you use Windows and the Xbox app for Halo then I know for sure campaign progress will sync. I don’t know for sure if you play the campaign on Xbox but also play through steam. I will say though that the Xbox syncing is a bit finicky. It seems to not sync immediately so maybe there is a setting I need to change somewhere.

In my experience most games run the same or better with a properly optimized Windows (lack of bloat). Yeah you can run games off the SD Card. The same concerns about speed to apply here as on SteamOS. For the guide I would recommend checking the windowsondeck subreddit, they have a stickied post with a lot of good information. I have been working on a more in depth comparison and a guide video myself but currently waiting for all the windows drivers on OLED steam deck since I upgraded to that one.

@@beyondtheringgaming thank you very much for your information :o steam deck is such a wonderful device, overlooked it for a long time but now seeing the prices for used ones around 300 euros, even some upgraded ones 1tb for 350, makes me think... getting a laptop with the same gaming performance isnt easy + the new architecture is surely beneficial to newer games (i dont care about 30 fps lock that much) the graphics are "okay" in newer games... reminds me on xbox 360 times sometimes, but ey its a handheld and older games will run like a blast... this thing is better than any smartphone for gaming :o i bet fallout 3, NV runs perfrect with this :o (huge fan) :D i saw some performance videos in different games and they look arlight for such a device, wouldnt even mind playing lots of these games on a large screen

Sorry for the late reply. I can try my best to help. Are you installing it through steam or the xbox app on the Windows side? @beyondtheringgaming

I am not 100% sure. You for sure wouldn’t be able to install all of MCC but you would likely be able to install individual campaigns. Halo Reach may not fit. Halo 4 would not fit at all. My recommendation would be to get a good SD card (check the steam deck reddit, they have lists on their sidebar) and install it there instead. The full package for MCC is around 150gb

It's kind of crazy how bloated and inefficient the Halo Infinite engine is compared to lack of visual fidelity. It's one of the most bland and unimpressive looking AAA titles in years. It should be able to hold a solid 60fps in MP on Steam Deck at low settings, but struggles to get above 50.

@@beyondtheringgaming Personally I have a 55 inch 4K HDR TV for my Series X While Infinite can tend to loom subpar on standard HD screens, this is thanks to all the subtle details that make it so photorealistic that are lost in compression Infinite is more worried about looking real than looking flashy and a lot of people call it bland for that reason
