Additional Kenwood 590 SG “70th Anniversary Model” notes: All are equipped with standard TXCO Stability Oscillator, VGS Voice Recorder and a unique black front finish color with a gold trimmed VFO knob.
US Units were limited to 230 Units, each with their own unique serial number on the back of the transceiver.
They work identically to a standard 590 SG with a TXCO and VGS voice recorder equipped transceiver. How it’s “collectibility“ could be? I think right now it’s too soon to say.
If it had some defining special elements inside the radio that were not available on the 590 SG, perhaps it would be quite collectible someday. In my opinion, it could be worth an extra $100-$200 over a standard 590 SG with the same options.
Could could be worth more, providing it comes complete with the matching CW Paddle and all factory documentation, shipping cartons and including original sales receipt.
Ham Radio Live Show 169 reviews the Kenwood GS 590 SG. And no, the DNR isn’t that bad! It has a lightning fast Tuner, great audio quality and the ability to change it from a triple conversion Superheterodyne design to a double at the push of a button.
Sorry for the poor lighting during this review. My heart and soul were in it but the lighting just wasn’t helping out. Hope you like the show.
