When I can wake up the morning and listening to this on the way to school to working out , it feels good , because it empties my mind , it empties my feelings , I only think about going forward . Listening to this while studying all day at school , that song make me concentrate not only a little bit but 150% . Coming home at night after the rugby game I listen to this because I can feel empty of feelings ,after a winning or a lose that just makes me brainwashed and makes me stronger .

I treat Hammock music very carefully. It's not only music I listen to for enjoyment. It's a tool that makes me dive into depths of my unconscious that I have never been conscious of before. I close my eyes and enter a state of deep relaxation; a dream like state. But then, suddenly, hidden emotions within me start to evoke. Emotions that are very, very powerful. Most of them are anxiety provoking. Sometime it gets so intense and panicing that I almost can't bear to continue listening. But I still go through. After 15 to 20 minutes or so. It suddenly feels like I have managed to contain such emotions. To know the roots of them. To accept them and perceive them with hopes and motivation instead of being in a state of worrying. Everything things turn bright , and I feel very refreshed and calm afterward It's hard to explain, but I'd say it's very , very therapeutical. Truly much more than music for me

This album struck at the heart of these ten years ago. Since then, Hammock - treasure of my soul. This is an absolutely special project. Each song touches the deepest strings in its own way.... As if what you dream of has already existed and these sounds and harmonies evoke sensations and images, almost memories... A window opens and you breathe in a piercing and bright nostalgia. I can't choose, every thing(theme) is a key. Thank you very much for your creativity and existence!!

Clearly you and I share quite a strong affinity for Hammock (my favorite band bar none). Just out of curiosity, would you say this is their magnum opus to date? Objectively, I'd say yes. Subjectivity, I just have such a strong personal tie and emotions to Oblivion Hymns that it'll always be my go-to.
@9EricCN3
6 жыл бұрын
That's a very difficult question for me because each of their albums brings something different. In my opinion, the definitive Hammock album is Chasing After Shadows... Living With The Ghosts because it's like a cumulation of everything they had done up until that point. If I were to recommend a Hammock album to someone who had never heard them before, that's the one I would share. But each one has something that makes it special. I remember when this one came out, it was considered quite dark for them, but then they upped the ante even more with Oblivion Hymns, which I sometimes have difficulty listening to because of how sad it is. Kenotic and Raising Your Voice... are shoegaze classics. Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow has a tenderness that warms my heart. Everything And Nothing is just incredible all-around, and Mysterium is heartbreaking both musically and conceptually. So yeah, they're also my favorite band :)

I somehow stumbled upon this playlist some 4 years ago. The song All is Dream And Everything is Real became one of my favourite for long time. I used to listen to this whole playlist daily for about a month while going to work. Then I changed the music taste for some time and lost it somewhere. I could not remember the name of artist, song, playlist and then I believe I forgot about this. Just remembered the tune. Today on Spotify, I was listening to instrumental and this tune came up randomly and my mind automatically remembered and mouth uttered 'Hammock' and voila it was. I don't know how I got to remember 'Hammock', may be in my subconscious mind it remained there. I like #13 All Is Dream And Everything is Real a lot. This tune I don't know how but extracts a whole lot of emotions.

I had my MIND restless and without peace, thinking about my life that is not good, the way I expected, because I am going through grief (I had loss of family, my maternal grandmother passed away and I I had her as a mother I never had, and I didn't get over the pain of homesickness, soon after a cousin of mine my baby at 14 died of cancer I loved them so much my world fell apart ) with that, soon in then I get a news that an ex boyfriend of mine killed himself (although we weren't together anymore because I was sure that even though I knew he cheated on me I still tried to advise him to have a life better not to do anything silly, today i know he just wanted to be lovedloved😭

Never heard of you. Got recommendation on a Phoria video from some dude. Ever since i found the american dollar- ive been into ambient post rock heavy...... makes life seem like the sunset moment in a movie, there waiting for the flight they contemplate what has happened, and what they lost, gained, where they move next.....

I climbed the hills, I crossed the ocean, I walked my way all by myself, but I have never been alone. Hammock is always by my side, under the dome full of stars, in the warmth of sunshine. I know my destination is far far away, and I will keep on walking, and hope the journey will never end.
