It's crazy how adaptable the body is, I'm 20 now and I've never been able to touch my toes with straight legs before. Honestly made me super happy and proud of myself, even though it was fairly minimal effort 😅

Ive consistently done stretches for up to 8 months straight (yes, dayly) multiple times over the years, but I barely get any results. ESPECIALLY in my hamstrings. I'm overall relatively stretchy, always have been, so it's not like I'm in bad shape. I just can't seem to improve. :/ I also get muscle craps all over my body almost constantly (few days ago was literally unable to stretch my arms cause the craps where that bad) and I'm pretty sure that might have something to do with stretches not working for me. I've tried numerous things to deal with this but nothing has really been working (only thing that has actually seemed to help was electro-therapy). If anyone reading this has any recommendations I'd be thankful to hear em. ;~;

I must say. Ive been researching many types of fitness and strength training to figure out what i needed to do to achieve my goals. I realized i need a combo. Id like to be able to move and control my own body weight, like callethensics exercises do, callethensics also helps as it makes me feel my muscle groups are a bit more even instead of specifically isolating. I always worry if i isolate too much ill get disportionate. But i also realized that some of my muscles are capable of more weight, and the weakest link in the chain can hold back my exercises. Granted over constistent period that will even out, but i can also do isolated weight training on certain weaker muscles to make my callethensic moves more solid. And your flexibility videos have really shown me the importance of full range of motion. So im doing a combination of all 3. Stretching, weight training, callethensics, I thought itd be a lot harder to do 3 types. But ive found it much more possible than i thought. I used to think i had to basically kill myself in the gym to make progress, like if i wasnt crawling out of the gym i wouldnt make real progress. Now i understand that its about consistency, and not staying constant forever, but increasing the amount your staying consistent with. Thank you. Realistic fitness instructors like you have really made me rethink my perspective on fitness. And understand what truly is and isnt possible naturally.

Tip for men: First, I'll explain the problem. When men bend down to stretch their hamstrings, they have a heavy upper body messing up their balance... so in order to bend down lower, they actually have to tension their lower back and hamstrings (which is of course, counter productive.) Downward dog is a decent option, but I'd recommend the following instead. Solutions: (in order of effectiveness [in my opinion]) 1. Do your hamstring stretches sitting on the floor. This way, your body doesn't have to posture and tighten the muscles you're trying to stretch. Unfortunately, it's hard to generate tension to your stretch, but you can always secure a rope to the wall or to heavy furniture to aid in pulling against your hammies while they are relaxed on the floor. 2. Do ballerina style hamstring stretches. Find a bannister or other waist height thing you can rest your foot on, and use it to stretch 1 leg at a time. You can now control tension with your back leg or by pulling on the bannister, and more importantly, your stretching leg is in a perfectly relaxed position. 3. (my favorite). Do a headstand and stretch your hamstrings upside down. Obviously, you need to practice your headstand to do this, but it's a very enjoyable stretch when you get the hang of it (pun intended). Just outstretch your legs frontward and maintain your balance with your back. Gravity applies (in my opinion) enough stretch tension, and better yet, you can put your feet together, spread them apart, focus on one leg, etc... you have a lot more agility in this stretch than any other. I, personally just stretch in whatever ways rock my socks off and switch positions whenever I feel like it and try to work the muscle from multiple angles. I'll do this for about a minute and in that minute I can fully stretch my hamstrings, calves, quads and hip flexors. (Don't forget to flex and unflex your feet. A simple change of the foot position, you will feel it change the stretch all the way up your leg.) You can posture up against a wall if you want. I don't because 1. It's cooler and 2. You can't stretch your quads when you're postured up butt against the wall.
