Great breakdown 🤘 For a first time listen you did a great job of catching alot of the structured chaos and layers on layers. Most don't appreciate or catch alot of what's going on until they listen to it multiple times. They absolutely crushed it with this song🔥🤘🔥

Hey Champ, you asked about a DJ, Yuyoyuppe (Takehiro Mamiya), who co-wrote this song with Matsuri, is a DJ (among other things; he also is credited with writing Babymetal's Karate and Rondo of Nightmare and producing multiple other Babymetal songs, as "Yuppemetal").

This song has one of the best intro and build up ever. With this Japanese instrument koto or shamizen or whatever it was, is just a great piece of music.

Nice reaction, Champ. This song is about their take on Japanese Work culture. The cute little dance they all do leaning forward with their butts out is referring to having to constantly 'bow' in respect to your superiors at work. The dance is to equate that bow with the pecking of a chicken (Pekku ペック is peck in English) And, if you re-watch it as the Video you will see an underlying sexual harassment theme as well. The Boss is aggresive and handsy with Yukina, and when he leaves the restaurant with Sae, she texts something to Yukina that makes her very angry, and resolves in her attack on the Boss at the end. GOD - I love these Girls . . . EVERYTHING about these Girls (hey, I'll be 75 in March - they could be my grandchildren, so I can call them girls)

My Japanese is not that good but based on what I get from Yukina's phone, I think it was actually Yukina's mother texting her after the boss left the restaurant because the first two messages said father is worrying because they haven't talked to Yukina for a while. Yukina apologized and told mum about her boss being really annoying and she wants to quit the job. Then Mum asked if she told him the magic words at that time, Yukina forgot what the magic was and asked about it, finally her mum said it was "お先に失礼します。" This is exactly what she sings next time she sees her boss.

They don't say "pekku", they say "peko" from pekori ぺこり which is directly associated to the action of bowing in front of others to show respect.

Sae is my favorite drummer. I think the best example of what makes her great is during Yukina's rap in "Reiwa Dating Apps Generation". It's like a duet between Sae and Yukina. Literally changed the way I think about drums as an instrument. Also, Google did not do you wrong with the translation. The song is about wanting to escape from the toxic misogyny that's still common in Japanese business culture.

Sai really seems to be taking a page from Gaku Taura's book. Both use a small drum kit and opt for creativity and working off other elements of the song.

They don't have a DJ. They play to a backing track live and pull it off brilliantly. This song is the sh*t though. Have you done Hanabie's "Ado" cover? That mxi of scream and sing is epic too. You should check out the original because the "metalize" it. Anyway, all these young kids in Japan are killing it! And the crazy thing which is cool and you noticed, is that they know how to compose. Its not just jamming riffs and seeing what works. I remember when Marty Friedman quit Megadeth and moved to Japan because of the unique music scene there and it always didn't makes sense. Twenty years later with YT more relevant it makes perfect sense. You gotta check out the "Ado" cover. That arrangement is close to this being as #1 from Hanabie for me. Btw, that "peko, peko" is a dance that the whole crowd does.
