great little knives, very useful tools those, and again some very clean forging. I have used car springs to make blades a fair few times and it makes very tough blades, a shame more don't use it but it seems with many they think it doesn't go hard enough and is full of cracks etc, neither of these things I have ever had a problem with

What is in with the stones? They look wet to me. Great video mate - I am yet to start making knives and I am in the process of beginning to get my forge, anvil and tools etc. I intend to start out with some basic tools and practice by making chisels and punches then moving on. What advice would you give to someone when it comes to their first knife?

There is WD40 in there with the stones. It helps with the stone washing process.

Can you please tell me the belt progression you used here or usually use? Do you have a preffered supplier? Ceramic? Thanks bud, love your work.
@theriversexperience9383
Жыл бұрын
The belt progression on this one is 36, 60, 120, then finish with a Scotchbrite belt. The lower grits are ceramic and the 120 and up are normally Aluminum Oxide. I like the Norton brand belts and also get belts from Pheonix Abrasives.

Thanks for sharing! Question, is removing forge scale an esthetic concern or function? Would scale come off on a user's hand or anything? I can certainly see how it is more consistent with your etch and stonewash finish.
@theriversexperience9383

Pieces of the scale can come off during day to day use. I prefer the way it looks with the scale removed, especially with the etch and stone wash.
