Well, you made me feel grateful that all I have is a Myxoid cyst... I did drain it myself and got into trouble - needed antibiotics but I recognised the need quickly. I don't have arthritis in my hands, it was caused by a rose prickle into the joint area. The infection has gone now, but the cyst is still there and relatively small. I just hope it will go away! It is actually painful and inconvenient.

Yes they can be painful as they tend to be right up against the nail bed. I hope it settles down. Just don’t burst it yourself if it comes back again !

I had some blunt force trauma on the dorsal wrist 2 months ago. 2 bone bruises and a partial tfcc tear. But i have a lump a bit bigger than a grain off rice. It can move freely around in the entire wrist and up to the index finger. Its very hard and gets stuck on nerves etc. Had an mri but they didnt see the lump. What could it be?

Sounds like a small loose body. Probably a fragment of detached cartilage.

What about a bump on the outside of the thumb, toward the top? At first, my doctor thought it was a vein, as it had a bluish tone. A year later, during my yearly exam, he said it looked like a cyst. As it grew over time, it became painful. I am constantly hitting it on something it it's sore.

Could be ganglion, could be a heberdens node, could a glomus tumour (these are harmless but painful), could be a GCT - no point is guessing though - Just get an ultrasound scan.

I have a small pea size bump a little above my wrist on the back of my hand . Hasn’t gone away for a month and not sure if it’s something that will go away on its own. It does hurt when I bump into something.

@@LiizLiz Best get it looked at but it’s probably a ganglion.

Are some volar palm side ganglions not able to be aspirated? My doctor didn’t want to aspirate due to the artery and didn’t offer to do it ultrasound guided. It’s causing nerve pain. But I really don’t want to risk a surgery.

I can understand why a family doctor would not want to aspirate a palmer ganglion. The radial and ulnar arteries are both in the firing line. I used to do these without image guidance but I wouldn’t now. I would always use ultrasound. Very few family doctors will have the training to do this so you will be need to ask for a specialist referral.

Could these contribute to carpul tunnel or nerve pain?
@PhysioMSK

Yes. Anything that can occupy the carpal tunnel (such as a palmer wrist ganglion or a flexor tendon sheath ganglion) can put pressure on the nerve and cause carpal tunnel syndrome. In fact a ganglion anywhere near any nerve could theoretically cause nerve irritation.

Will it do any good to have them removed again

It depends what type of cysts they are. You need a diagnosis first.

Can I pop a kinda hard small ball right at the creese where my thumb is attached to palm side?

Sounds like a pearl (seed) ganglion. You would struggle to burst it with pressure but it is possible. So much easier with a needle. I would have to advise against doing this yourself though. Best to get it checked out.
