@mikeg1433
2 жыл бұрын
Pre filling prevents bubbling from appearing in your tape by ensuring an adequate amount of mud has been pressed into the gap being covered and dried without pockets forming due to shrinkage/movement. The goal is to have a surface that’s only flat enough to spread your taping layer on evenly so sanding usually isn’t necessary; very minimal if needed. Hot mud is the best option for this because it has very minimal shrinkage, high bonding strength compared to other mud types, and sets as fast as you need it too. I think that answers your question or were you wondering why it’s being taped over at all if the joint is already filled and smooth enough to paint over as is?
