In Ex-Yugoslavia Doxa was famous and tought to be in the same range as Omega. There is very common saying here that survives to this day. "Radi kao Doxa." Which means "Works like a Doxa." It can be used for anything that works great. From cars to construction machines. I remember one older gentlemen showing his Rolex Datejust to a friend and saying "Works like Doxa."

I love learning more about different watch brands, especially the less widely popular ones. For example, I knew very little about JLC before your videos on them and now I'm a fan. Thank you for taking me to life beyond being just a Rolex fan boy. I also love how you share your unbridled enthusiasm of learning with us rather than acting like a know-it-all the way so many other KZitem Watch Guys do. Your style makes it seem that we're learning alongside of you rather than you preaching down to us or conducting a lecture. You've got the formula for success Adrian.

Thanks for highlighting the Doxa brand Adrian. I’m a diver of 25 years and surprisingly enough, I collect diver’s watches. I also live in Glasgow and bought a Sub 1200T Professional whilst the company was still ‘internet only’, mainly because I was a fan of Clive Cussler and it was identical in dimensions to the original Sub 300 worn by Clive and his character, Dirk Pitt. You are quite right about the stated reason for the orange dial and it’s legibility underwater. Many other dive watch manufacturers have followed suit with various models and over the years and I’ve often heard watch enthusiasts casually highlight this as feature of a given dive watch. However it’s not true! The visible spectrum of natural light which penetrates the water is gradually reduced as you go deeper. No red light penetrates any deeper than about 5m, at this depth, red appears grey, or black. Orange is the next to go, around 10m, yellow (15m), green (25m). Blue is the last to go which is why the sea generally appears blue or green in the shallower sections. The best way to ensure underwater legibility is to ensure high contrast ie. black markers on a white dial, or vice versa. Diving in Scotland, we don’t have a lot of sunlight and therefore it tends to be very dark underwater, so we all carry powerful torches, which restores natural colour and of course, charges the lume on gauges, watch dials etc. I’ve dived both the Seiko SKX007 and the Citizen Promaster NY0040 with the full lume dial and my preference in terms of legibility and luminescence would be the SKX007 (high contrast lume on black). There are a few misconceptions around various features of dive watches. I’ll maybe bump into you in the Argyll Arcade one day and we can discuss over a coffee! I have an Aquadive Poseidon GMT on order - another historic dive watch brand owned by Synchron group. I also have a Submariner (never dived!) so I’ve been following some of the recent discussions around the value of s/s Rolex with interest. Keep up the good work Adrian!

Would love to see your impressions of the 1200T's replacement, the 2019 Sub 300T, is it as good as the old one?... looking over the specs, it maintains the 1200m water resistance, and looks to use the same case, minus helium escape valve and with a slightly different bezel edge, has a tapered bracelet on the new one too.

I still have my father’s (may he RIP) original 60s/70s Doxa Sub 300. This version doesn’t have a helium escape valve mind and is the silver dial variation rather than the orange. It’s in decent condition however, has never been serviced as far as I know but still works...for short periods of time anyway. I even still have its original aluminum packaging case! I looked into having it fully restored by Doxa, they do offer that service, or rather they did as my enquiry was years ago now. Didn’t do it in the end because it was too expensive for me and you have to mail it directly to the factory in Switzerland to get the job done apparently. My part of the world is a long way from Switzerland and I don’t fully trust my local postal service either. It’s terribly managed! So much so that I’ve completely stopped ordering stuff from Amazon and eBay cold turkey as a result.

First what are your opinions on wearing expensive and flashy watches to interviews/meetings/work in general? I’m mid level management whose just bought a Sky Dweller for example. It has such great wrist presence, but because of the beads of rice bracelet, wears beautifully on my 6 3/4 wrist. Why did I buy/do I own the black face 1200T and not the classic orange................because I prefered it and it still allowed me to wear the watch with a suit to the office 👍👌.
