I was really excited for this until I saw the lack of analog stick and enough buttons to play all the games in its original hand held mode. Given the total cost and drawbacks it's a pass for me. You can get one of the Android based handhelds that are as capable, or better, at this price point. The only things this has that those other handhelds don't are the nostalgic design and the diy nature of it.

Especially since the original Gpi can now run on a brand new PiZero2 which is equivalent to a Pi3....with lower res, the N64 and PS1 run really great on it. Playing dreamcast without stick on 6 button would need to be setup like i setup on my arcade cabonet. Not a deal breaker, but it would really have been a no brainer if they included a stick. In the current state, the GpiCase2 will need extra effort to set it up and become the Retro Switch it was meant to be.

You should have just got a MiSTer. The mini consoles are cool for display, though... but for actually playing, nothing beats a MiSTer for the price. It is pretty much like original hardware with no lag and no need for upscalers, flash carts, and tons of scart/component cables. Computers and Pi 4 is great for arcade games not on MiSTer, though. But the mini consoles in terms of accuracy of the emulation is not as good as PC, Pi, or MiSTer. This is why they are just cool for displaying on a shelf. Don't choose your way to play just because it looks like a cool little console.

Mixed feelings. Basically they provide enough buttons to play handhelds and consoles up to 16 bits. If you want to play bigger consoles (PS1, N64, DC) appropriately, you'll have to use the dock. To be honest, I somehow understand their approach, because to emulate newer TV consoles you'll require more processing power (through OC) and that will drain the battery faster than intended. The problem I see is getting a CM4 at reasonable price. Currently their prices range between $90 and $110 plus shipping when they are in stock. So... it's hardly a nearly $220-$250 console (after including CM4/BT. Controller/MicroSD Card) to play retrogames... there other cheaper alternatives that can emulate up to Gamecube for half the investment.
