I used Rubbermaid its same system. Its easy installation and holds weight well. the 16 inch shelf supports is what drives the cost up.

When l painted my new walls in my shed, l put a trim tape over my studs. There is no need for stud finding! * Note that each layer of paint requires its own tape. My one tape took out all three layers, including the drywall sealant. Instead of starting from scratch, l'm putting a wider tape over the original tape, and sealing it with a clear sealant. If anyone can think of a better solution , please let me know ASAP!

Can you list all the items that you use in this video? I can only see linen wire shelf on home depot/lowe's which on the site says can only hold 70lbs. Thank you, if you can also include the mounting screws you used.

You need more supports at the deflected areas. The allowable load is calculated based on the screw to wood allowable.

What is the purpose of the hanging or top track? Can’t you just screw the vertical tracks into the wall without the hanging track?
@MrFredsDIY
Жыл бұрын
The top track ads vertical structural support. Screws alone could shear off under a load. I had considered only using screws on the uprights, but I knew I was going to put a lot of weight on this system. Thanks for commenting.!

About the first horizontal rail: Given that everything is anchor to studs, It seems a bit an overkill… and for level you can use a laser level. do you think you really need it?

Any reason why you used the regular duty shelves, brackets, hang track & vertical rail and not the heavy duty ones ???
@MrFredsDIY
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video! I used the regular duty because I have used them before with no issues and as you can see with all of the weight they hold. Also it saved a ton of money!

@@MrFredsDIY Your are very welcome. I hear you about the ton of money, LOL/ when our home was built the builder used a guy that just used the usual junk to hold the wire shelves , even the bottom bracket were not in the studs, after 20+ years a 9 foot wire shelf caved, I took all the shelves in the closet down, the closet is big 9' X 7' I did that closet with all the heavy duty shelving etc and everything in the studs, I kid my wife in saying the house will fall down before any of these shelves fall, LOL , Now that I have gotten really good I am going to do a wall in the garage like you did and was going to use the heavy duty stuff again, but after seeing your video I just might go with the regular duty, again thank you for getting back to me and your answer to my question

A real simple support that could lock on the front side would be too easy and reduce the weight by half and it would be movable.

That’s a fantastic question! I would totally use the same exact method, but instead of the wood screws, I would use Tapcon screws. I would probably use these amzn.to/3Jf7kUF

Can you use 12 - 14 inch wood for the shelves with the adjustable shelving system?

I’m pretty sure at Lowe’s and Home Depot both sell shelving that works with this system. You certainly could DIY some wood shelves for this system. Thanks for checking out the video.!

does anyone know if shelving lengths are exact? For instance, I want a shelf across 3 24in spaced studs - that's 6ft. Do i need to get an 8ft shelf and cut it down for that to work with the brackets?
@MrFredsDIY
Жыл бұрын
If 6ft are not available then yes you will have to cut them down. Both Lowes and Home Depot have the ability to cut them for you with bolt cutters. You just have to find someone in that department who wants to be helpful that day. Thanks for watching!
@mattbush315
Жыл бұрын
@@MrFredsDIY sorry if my question was confusing. 6ft'ers are available, but I'm wondering if a 6ft shelf is actually 6ft or if it's a bit over 6ft to allow room for the support bracket. If it's exactly 6ft, and so is the stud spacing, I feel like the bracket would not fully engage the wire shelf and cause issues? Maybe I'm wrong.
@MrFredsDIY
Жыл бұрын
@@mattbush315 my guess is that a few inches extra on each side for overhang would be desirable.

I just figured out how to do this in a fraction of the time and probably half the cost. Cut to length chain fence hanging from the rafters with s hooks. Would they sway. Yes. but you could put buy a flat shelf on the floor and hook the chain to it. If anything, this idea could be very fast temp shelves.

Harbor Freight sells these. It’s a small “chop saw” for 6” cut-off wheels. I have punished this little saw with up to 1/4” thick steel bar stock and it just keeps going!
