You made it look so easy. I rebuilt a shed and it had Dutch doors. What a pain in the rearend.

Ha! Well, thanks. That's because I had already done four and made every mistake in the book before I got to that one

Thanks for the tips. You’re right horses are notorious for finding stupid things to do, they like breaking things!lol

If I want to weather proof the door, is there something I can place In the center gap?

I would try nailing some flat flashing to the front of the top door so it hangs down over the gap or nailing some 90 degree angle flashing to the bottom of the top door again so it covers the gap. Make it heavy enough horses can’t tear it off if it’s in s barn. They will chew through thin aluminum flashing

great video, but you dont talk about when the door is out of TRUE and the 2 door run into to each other as they open. I have checked my bubble and it shows in level, but the two doors hit at the 3/4 open mark. i have tried everything to get them true, and still cannot get them to sync. Any ideas? thanks for your help and video

Hi Irene. I probably didn't mention it because one of my doors does the same thing. ;-) This is pretty hard to try and explain ina comment, but here goes. Open your doors to the halfway point so they are perpendicular to the barn wall. Then put your level on the so that one end of the level is towards the barn wall. I had to shim behind my hinges to get them to swing level all the way around. Now, my hinges are mounted on the outside of the barn wall so I can shim behind them to fix that level. Let's try this, if your top door, for example when open tp perpendicular to the wall is tilted towards 11:00 then you need to move that hinge away from the barn wall to lower the outside top corner of the door. Conversely if the door is tilted towards 1:00 then the bottom hinge needs to move away from the wall and towards the door. If none of that made sense, email me at swdweeb@gmail.com and I can try to help with pictures ;-)
