The village Hanjrai is located near Lahore-Multan road. It is located twenty kilometers away from the River Ravi and about fifteen KM from Pattoki town. A road leads from Pattoki to Hanjra. Before July 1, 1976 it was part of tehsil Chunian, district Lahore. Hanjrai Kalan or Waday Hanjra is a historical and old village. Before partition, majority of population was of Jatt clans. Sardar Kundan Singh Sardar Kundan Singh, Sardar Muhammad Sona, Sardar Chattar Singh and others were notable figures of area. Sardar Arjan Singh was awarded with surname of "King of Ravi" by British Government. These Jatts had a close family relations with legend Nakai family of Wan Adhan village. Muslim Jatt and Sikh Jatt were in majority. Christian and Hindu were also living in village but they minority of population.
Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Hanjrai
The Gurdwara of Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji is located in the eastern side of the village.
The Gurdwara marks the site of where Guru Arjan settled a long standing boundary dispute between two brothers, Jatri and Hanjra, who each owned a village.
Guru Arjan established the boundary between the two villages. Guru Ji graced both the villages by his presence.
Initially the Gurdwara was a simple construction but subsequently the village sangat built it with bricks and mortar.
The Gurdwara has been closed since 1947. The sarovar has become a pool of stagnated water.
Shrine Meeran Shah is also as old as Gurdwara. Meeran Shah was a Muslim saint of old times.
Nehri Kothi of Hanjrai is also a classical building.
