One weekend morning in 1960, I was sitting by my parent's radiogram listening to the radio. I'd been playing guitar for about a year, but it wasn't obsessive. then Apache came on the radio. Hank's sound thrilled me to the depth of my soul (and still does) I spent most of the day by the radio Hoping to hear it again and it was played 3 or 4 more times. In 1961 they toured South Africa and I went to a matinee show, which was a life-changing experience. After 4 months of excruciatingly painful employment, I took the plunge, and have managed to support myself by playing and teaching music Thanks Mr. Marvin, respect.

Give him noise in its worst form, this man Hank can turn it into beautiful frequencies of music. I have followed him from the 60's and he has influenced me in music. This also led me learn the guitar and I have been playing for years. Thanks Hank. Keep playing.

I became a die hard fan of the Shadows from 1963 when I first experienced their Apache. This led to my learning the guitar at the age of 7...and still yet to get Hank's tone ! The greatest instrumental group of all time. Burns and Fender owe everything to them.

Hank and the Shadows were my first musical shock with Apache as a boy of 13, all those 60 years ago. I collected every single and LP and nearly drove my mother mad until one day on a visit home from College she said to me - 'Michael put some Shadows on love'. I was so glad she had been converted. For myself I can only say the Shadows have given me a lifetime of listening pleasure and I hope they will keep going. Thanks for so much music, pleasure and unique quality. Mike Hadley

You are absolutely right Ursula. Hank Marvin does not believe in Dracula or any other form of spiritistic or pagan practices. This picture would have been either photo shopped or taken before he became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is now one of Jehovah's Witnesses and an elder in one of the congregations in Perth, Australia.

Hank Marvin is now one of Jehovah's Witnesses and has been for many years and is an elder in Perth, Australia. He would very likely appreciate it if 123-142 were respectfully removed from this video as he no longer celebrates pagan holidays such as Halloween.
