Got to see him live in 1987 at the local bar..He spent time with audience chatting and was very respectful to his older fans..Not only a talented musician but a true gentleman .

Hank recorded and charted in the 40s, 50s, 60s,70s, 80s, and 1990s. And he STILL doesn’t get his due. Let’s remember the TWO legendary Hanks... Williams and Thompson!

My Dad kept Hank in the rotation on the Admiral console when I was a kid in the sixties and the twin fiddles and steel guitars have rung in my ears ever since. Thanks Dad. Thanks Hank.

A wonderful, accomplished man who knew his music history, and his place in it. Princeton University alum, first broadcast color TV show in OKC, Pilot, big game hunter WW2 veteran, and Country Music Hall of Fame inductee.

One of my all time favs. I had many of his records on 45's, then albums, even reel to reel. Now, have good collection on CD's. So many great lines he sang... Every man will leave his footprints, on the shifting sand of time but I just left the mark of a fool. or Here's my glass, fill it up fill it to the brim if I can't drown my troubles now I'll teach them how to swim.

I have been hearing this song in bars for a long time, and never knew who did it originally, till now... I was a rocker who ended up playing bass in the local country oldies circuit.. What a musical education that was.. Know most of Willy's road house, and 1980 up.. Check out predivorce paranoia... 21 songs I wrote on you tube...

I grew up loving Western Swing, and have always been a Hank Thompson fan. That being said, not all of Hanks songs were Western swing. His biggest hit was, ‘The Wild Side of Life.’ I’ve always loved the music of Hank Thompson and his award winning band, ‘The Brazo Valley Boys.’ Hanks band leader for many years was the highly regarded Billy Gray; and Hank only hired the best. The Opry house band with Weldon Myrick playing steel guitar on this video did a great job on this performance. One of Hanks hero’s was the legendary Merle Travis. If you look closely at Hanks guitar on the video, you’ll see that it’s a Gibson Super 400 with the Bigsby tail piece and the Merle Travis patented long whammy bar with the circle at the end of it to put your pinky in it for convenience.

And a forgotten country song about a cab driver who came to Nashville during the Vietnam War. His girl has become a successful singer, and he’s driving a cab. It’s called “”Kay “ It’s a GREAT song about failure, bad luck and horrible longing in defeat kzitem.info/news/bejne/0GyjsXV8iYeDmpgsi=IzPhjw5sE5mXwXWg
