@@alena9012 He wasn't the FIRST TO ATTEMPT a 4A in an international competition. Yes. But those attempted jumps were downgraded and thus receive the base value of 3A. And Yuzu almost fully rotates it and receives the base value of 4A. So, his attempted 4A is the FIRST TO BE CERTIFIED (or recognized). And how did you know that his main reason for not giving up the 4A is that he needs attention from the media? I think that it is another way around. The media needs him. Don't you think he will receive all the attention when he won his 3rd gold medal? Every site and channel uses him as a thumbnail instead of those who get the gold medal because they want to gain clicks. He even doesn't have a social media account. It's not our problem that your favorite skater received little or maybe no attention from the media or the people. Remember that greatness can never be bought not even by a gold medal.

Yuzuru is the king of endlessly pushing himself to break boundaries. His efforts towards achieving the first certified 4A in Olympic history were palpable. He even fell and got back up gracefully too. He didn’t come to win gold again - he came to face his personal goal. Following the events, you could see that the weight had been lifted off of his shoulders as he was in such a bright mood at the gala despite being on painkillers throughout the Olympics. Each time Yuzuru skates, you can truly feel his sincerity and passion for the sport. As he’s said himself, “I bet my life to skate.” He is a once in a lifetime talent, the prince of the ice, “the most complete athlete in figure skating, probably ever,” the GOAT! His artistry is out of this world, and his dedication to the ice is unmeasurable. He’s involved in every step, from music selection to input on his costumes to perfectly match his programs. We are blessed to be able to witness his prowess, all while he remains so humble. It’s difficult to not be a fan regardless of whether you care for the sport or not - even his competitors adore him. He just has the ability to capture hearts. Yuzuru Hanyu, thank you for everything you have given this world. I will always be proud to support you.

first 4A that’s certified and the closest anyone’s ever gotten to a quint jump, he may not made the podium but his name will be engraved in the history books for sure. the rest of the program is so beautiful too, the step sequence was so touching….he’s been skating for decades already but somehow i feel like there’s a lot more he can show us

I remember the mix of emotions I was feeling watching this live and it’s always been a difficult one to rewatch, especially when Sochi and Pyeongchang are such joyous alternatives, but in hindsight, knowing that this is his last competitive performance and all the new achievements waiting for him in the pro stage of his career, I think it’s wonderful for Yuzu to make his last comp skate something that was for his dream and ambition with the medal pressure lifted. Not the way we would’ve hoped events would unfold, but we all knew by that point the *higher powers* had already decided their own winner, but Yuzu turned this into his own victory ❤🎉

Am I too silly to still get teary eyes after watching this? The struggles he encountered, the brave action he took, the story that he conveyed.. everything comes together. This performance still touches my heart and I am still so proud of him at the end of it. He is so admirable.

I'm so proud of him. When he cried, I also cried with him. I cried for him even before the competition starts. Idk, I really felt his hardwork. People may see that going after 4A is a useless dream and not worth of sacrifice but that was brave of him to go after his dreams even if people around him kept on saying no. I'm proud of you. You are so beautiful Yuzuru Hanyu. Your performance will always be so beautiful. I'm honored because I got to see you skate. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I'm so proud

i will never forget about these beautiful yuzuru olympics, he truly gave his soul to this stunning skating, from the beginning till the very end, throughout every rotation of his jumps till the edges of his steps… should have seen it coming THAT one was his last competitive score of his memorable career, it was really a honor to watch him as a competitor and i’m honored to watch him as an incredible performer, may he is forever happy and finds his peace in HIS figure skating 🤍
